Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Duggan (ranked 3296 p4p, 2672 weight class) and Iso Paa (ranked 416 p4p, 364 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Duggan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Iso Paa! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good standup being displayed there by Duggan as he connects with a hook. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Paa has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Paa closes the distance and clinches. Paa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Paa comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Duggan. Paa does a little dance to reset his feet. Paa feints and then cracks Duggan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Duggan down. A big left from Paa misses. Duggan throws a body punch but Paa moves out of range. Paa with the counter takedown but Duggan avoids it easily. Duggan scores with a jab to the jaw. Paa getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Paa defending well as Duggan loads up on a big left hand. Paa throws a leg kick but Duggan sees it coming and moves out of range. Duggan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Paa was well out of range. Poor timing from Duggan. Paa steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Duggan throws a leg kick and Paa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Duggan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Duggan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round. Duggan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Paa's guard.

Duggan wants to control from the top but Paa keeps moving. Duggan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Duggan throws a sloppy strike and Paa has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Duggan is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Paa!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Iso Paa! A determined Iso Paa didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
