Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Shakes (ranked 800 p4p, 1277 weight class) and Nick Jackson (ranked 60 p4p, 92 weight class). Shakes comes into the arena with About the Money- T.I. blaring out of the sound system. Nick Jackson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Shakes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shakes gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jackson stops Shakes from standing up.
Jackson throws a big elbow that misses.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Shakes is keeping the position.
Shakes has control of Jackson's left arm, preventing Jackson from doing any damage.
Shakes keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Shakes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.


Jackson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Shakes stacks Jackson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Shakes!

Jackson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shakes stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Jackson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shakes.
Jackson throws a hook to the side of Shakes's head but Shakes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Shakes is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jackson.
Shakes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
And Jackson tries to counter it with a takedown but Shakes pushes his down on his head and steps out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jackson wants the takedown. Shakes is fighting it off but Jackson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Shakes's guard against the cage.

Shakes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jackson gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Jackson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Shakes. Shakes circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

It looks like Nick Jackson has been cut.
Shakes lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jackson backwards.
Jackson lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Shakes creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Shakes creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to Shakes's temple.
Jackson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Nick Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jackson loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Shakes scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Jackson land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Jackson stands and salutes the crowd.

Nick Jackson seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
The defeated Marcus Shakes had this to say: 'Maybe its time to hang it up and coach'.
