Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shape Shifter (ranked 633 p4p, 679 weight class) and Paul Hunt (ranked 91 p4p, 98 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Shape Shifter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shifter.
Hunt throws a shot from downtown. Shifter moves away and avoids it.

and Hunt counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A bone on bone clash there as Shifter blocks the leg kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shifter is defended easily by Hunt.

Shifter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hunt as he jumps to the side.
Hunt was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Shifter's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hunt connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shifter scrambles back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hunt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hunt throws out a counter right but Shifter avoids it with no problem.
Hunt lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Shifter has a takedown stuffed.
Hunt feints a counter leg kick.
Hunt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shifter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Shifter is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hunt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hunt has escaped and now he's on top!

Hunt avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shifter looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hunt has picked Shifter up and slammed him! Shifter can't keep hold of the triangle and Hunt manages to pass to side control!

Shifter closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Shifter shoots in for a double leg but Hunt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Nice takedown defense from Hunt. No joy for Shifter on that attempt.

Hunt tries to keep at a distance but Shifter has taken the fight into the clinch.

Paul Hunt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Shifter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hunt, who protects the arm well.
Shifter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hunt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Shifter goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hunt rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Shifter's guard! Nice work there by Hunt!

Shifter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hunt wants to stand but Shifter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Shape Shifter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Shifter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hunt's guard.
Shifter trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Hunt manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Shifter seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Shifter is looking for a triangle but Hunt pushes his legs off easily.

Shifter throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
