Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Rozhkov (ranked 386 p4p, 165 weight class) and Imperial Washington (ranked 55 p4p, 19 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Washington misses the target.
Rozhkov comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Washington rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rozhkov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Washington moves out of range of the strikes.

Washington slaps away a takedown attempt from Rozhkov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Washington swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

and Rozhkov counters with a single leg into guard. Washington didn't expect that.

Rozhkov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Washington is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Washington has escaped and now he's on top!

Washington is pushing down on Rozhkov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rozhkov is fighting to maintain full guard but Washington has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rozhkov is looking for a sweep. Washington is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rozhkov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Washington throws out a counter right but Rozhkov avoids it with no problem.
Rozhkov darts in looking for a takedown but Washington gets double underhooks and turns Rozhkov into the cage.

Washington unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rozhkov lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Washington lands a good knee to the midsection. Rozhkov won't want to take too many of those.

Washington tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Washington has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and Washington counters with a head kick that drops Rozhkov to the mat! Rozhkov scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Washington is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Rozhkov lands a nice shot that snaps Washington's head back.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

I was talking to Rozhkov's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Rozhkov gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Washington gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
