Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Bronco (ranked 525 p4p, 556 weight class) and Grigoriy Petrov (ranked 79 p4p, 82 weight class). Bronco comes into the arena with The Horses - Daryl Braithwaite blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 38 - 19 - 2, fighting out of New York, Johnny Bronco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 28 - 16 - 3, fighting out of New York, Grigoriy Petrov! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petrov lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. We've been informed that Petrov has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Petrov tries to score with a low kick but Bronco moves his leg out of the way. Bronco on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Petrov. Petrov obviously looking to wear him down.
Grigoriy Petrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice straight punches there by Petrov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Petrov. A swing and a miss from Petrov. Bronco slips a straight right by Petrov. Bronco lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Petrov jabbing away but nothing is landing. Bronco gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Bronco takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Petrov connects with a solid leg kick. Bronco lands a head shot. Bronco misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Petrov.
Bronco has managed to clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bronco misses with a hook from the clinch. Bronco doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Bronco makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Petrov prevents a body shot from Bronco.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bronco misses with a hook to the ribs.
Petrov lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Bronco ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bronco no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Petrov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bronco being controlled here, momentarily. Bronco trying to control the position here. Bronco wants to sweep but no luck. Bronco working for submissions but it's allowed Petrov to get to half guard.

Bronco is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Bronco trying to control but Petrov postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Petrov misses with a jab to the body
letting Bronco counter with a right hand. The fight stays on the outside here - Bronco looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Petrov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Bronco walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Petrov throws a body shot but no joy. Good leg kick by Petrov. The fighters circle momentarily. Bronco darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Bronco waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Petrov. Bronco wants to clinch up but Petrov keeps it at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A good leg kick by Petrov. Bronco fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Petrov on the side of the head. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Petrov lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bronco has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bronco and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Petrov gets caught flat footed, as Bronco shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bronco working some strikes from top position. Petrov pulls Bronco in close to prevent any damage. Bronco throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bronco trying to control the position from guard on top but Petrov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Bronco will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Petrov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A jab from Bronco does it's job there. Bronco is looking to clinch but Petrov is avoiding it.
Petrov lands with a nice body punch. Bronco takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Bronco uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Petrov. Petrov scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Grigoriy Petrov seems to be getting the better of the standup. Petrov's jab looks to have found its range, popping Bronco under the eye. Bronco looks to score with a jab to the body but Petrov is just out of range. Petrov misses with an uppercut. Petrov wants to slow Bronco down by chopping away at his legs. Bronco walks into a straight right hand from Petrov. Petrov fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Bronco on the side of the head. Bronco ducks under a wild hook from Petrov. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Petrov looks to throw the jab but Bronco is out of range. Petrov stuffs the takedown. Donk. Petrov catches Bronco right on the button with a cross. No luck for Bronco with that takedown attempt. Petrov doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
That's one minute gone in the round. A decent looking cross lands there for Petrov. Bronco is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Petrov cracks Bronco with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Bronco throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Grigoriy Petrov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bronco lands a head shot. Bronco fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bronco shoots for a double leg takedown but Petrov sprawls well. He's pushed Bronco's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Bronco. That's going to take a lot out of him. Petrov throws out a loose jab but Bronco uses good head movement to avoid it. Bronco tries to close the distance and clinch but Petrov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Petrov throws a looping overhand right but Bronco ducks down to avoid it. Petrov with the inside leg kick. A left lands for Petrov. Petrov uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bronco has time to react. A looping hook to the body misses from Petrov. Bronco does a little dance to reset his feet. Petrov avoids the body shot from Bronco.
Petrov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Petrov lets loose with a powerful body kick. Bronco will feel that in the morning.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bronco shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Petrov but Petrov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Petrov swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A jab from Bronco misses. Bronco clinches up with Petrov and pushes him back against the cage. Bronco tries a body shot but Petrov blocks it.
Bronco lands a left hand.
Bronco tries to work over Petrov's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Bronco lands a body shot. Petrov misses with a punch on the inside.
Petrov has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Petrov effectively controlling the action here. Bronco misses with the head strike.
Bronco misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Petrov lands a hook that snaps the head of Bronco backwards. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Bronco. Petrov prevents a body shot from Bronco. Petrov wants to stall.
A short left from Petrov.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bronco pulls guard. Bronco working a defensive guard here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bronco is on top in guard.
Petrov pulls Bronco in close to his closed guard and prevents Bronco from doing any damage or advancing position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bronco accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Petrov holds on and takes a little breather. Petrov working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bronco.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bronco wants to control from the top but Petrov keeps moving. Petrov seems keen to control Bronco's posture. Bronco working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Petrov is adopting a defensive guard. Bronco throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bronco wants to control from the top but Petrov keeps moving.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Grigoriy Petrov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round! Petrov gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Bronco tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Petrov paws at him with a jab and circles away. Petrov misses with an uppercut
and Bronco counters with a lovely straight right hand! Petrov stuns Bronco with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Bronco staying out of range there. Petrov throws a nice inside leg kick. A low kick lands for Petrov.
A good leg kick by Petrov. Bronco wants to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petrov lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Bronco connects with a right hand. Petrov shakes it off. Petrov ducks under a wild hook from Bronco. Bronco closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petrov wants to control but Bronco postures up. Sloppy strikes there by Bronco. Bronco in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bronco taking a break here but Petrov is having none of it and regains half guard. Petrov is not content to let Bronco control the position. Bronco content to control rather than advance. Bronco trying to control from Petrov's half guard. Petrov has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Petrov keeping moving, preventing Bronco from controlling successfully. Bronco is really struggling to control Petrov but he's trying to hold on to the position. Johnny Bronco overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Petrov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Bronco advances to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petrov is not content to let Bronco control the position. Bronco throwing shots but Petrov is blocking nicely. Bronco looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Bronco throwing strikes but missing. Petrov trying to control the position here.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Bronco works Petrov's body with a nice hook. Nice takedown defense from Petrov. No joy for Bronco on that attempt. Bronco drives through with a takedown into guard. Bronco is looking to work some ground and pound but Petrov has wrist control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Petrov seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Petrov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Johnny Bronco showed his dominance in that final round. I think Bronco has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
