Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudi Kardi (ranked 802 p4p, 1272 weight class) and Clint River (ranked 123 p4p, 193 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 2, fighting out of London, Rudi Kardi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clint River !
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Kardi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kardi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. River swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kardi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! River is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kardi, into his guard.


Kardi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and River defends well.
Kardi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. River manages to get himself to full guard.

Kardi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Kardi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Kardi drops back looking for a leg! River is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and River manages to kick Kardi off! Kardi jumps back into River 's guard.
Kardi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. River swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kardi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kardi postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kardi slips nicely into half guard.
Kardi has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if River can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kardi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. River doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kardi.

River throws a leg kick but Kardi sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and Kardi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kardi.

River really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kardi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

River got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kardi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, River has managed to get both his arms back between Kardi's legs - danger averted.

Kardi looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kardi thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Kardi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! River has picked Kardi up and slammed him! Kardi can't keep hold of the triangle and River manages to pass to side control!
Kardi is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but River is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kardi tries to improve his position but instead River has taken his back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
River doesn't have the hooks in and Kardi manages to turn into his guard.

River has his feet on Kardi's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
River dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kardi takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

It looks like Rudi Kardi has been cut.
Kardi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Clint River will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Rudi Kardi's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kardi misses with a takedown attempt - River sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kardi avoids a kick to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kardi.
River takes a swing at Kardi's ribcage but misses.
Kardi shoots for a double leg takedown but River sprawls well. He's pushed Kardi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rudi Kardi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
River lands with a good body shot.
Kardi avoids the body shot from River .
Kardi appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Kardi tries to score a power double leg takedown but River sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kardi somewhat.

Clint River seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Kardi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
River tries to kick Kardi off but Kardi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kardi is looking for a kimura but River is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kardi to get the leverage.

River pushes Kardi off looking to stand but Kardi dives back in and keeps control.

Kardi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so River is just riding it out for now. Kardi eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kardi swings around for an armbar but River sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kardi's guard.
Kardi throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kardi gets back to half guard.

River stands up from half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Clint River showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Kardi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as River throws out the jab.
Kardi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and River counters with a good, hard body kick but Kardi shrugs it off.
River is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kardi rather than just go for the knockout.
River looks to land a right hand but Kardi moved out of range.
As River tries to get set, Kardi tries to push him back and clinch up but River manages to avoid the attempt.
Clint River seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kardi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

River throws a quick inside leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
River throws a shot from downtown. Kardi moves away and avoids it.
Kardi feinted with a counter takedown.

River feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kardi sprawling to the canvas! Kardi rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can River finish him?!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
BOOM! River lands a beautiful left hook that drops Kardi. Kardi tries to recover but River is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Kardi lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clint River !
