Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Gasgoine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Riker!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riker cracks Gasgoine with a good jab.
Gasgoine throws a sloppy head kick and Riker moves out of range easily.
Riker looks for a takedown but Gasgoine sprawls well.

Riker closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gasgoine did well to prevent Riker getting side control.

Riker decides to stand up.
Riker throws a right hand that misses
and Gasgoine cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Riker misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gasgoine.
Riker scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Riker gets the takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Riker decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gasgoine to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Riker ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Riker takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Riker pushes Gasgoine up against the cage in a clinch.
Riker tries to score a body lock takedown but Gasgoine shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Gasgoine lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Gasgoine blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Riker.
Gasgoine lands a left hand.
Riker tries a body shot but Gasgoine blocks it.

Riker gets control of Gasgoine's arms and successfully pulls guard. Riker will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Gasgoine pushing down on Riker's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Riker wants to improve his position but Gasgoine is controlling well.
Gasgoine performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Riker is looking for a sweep. Gasgoine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gasgoine looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gasgoine has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Riker slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gasgoine avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Riker working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Gasgoine has passed into half guard!
Gasgoine stalling.
Gasgoine wants to free his trapped foot but Riker is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Riker is looking to improve his position.
Gasgoine perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gasgoine passes the guard and advances to mount!
Riker regains half guard.
Gasgoine prevents Riker from improving his position.
Riker regains full guard. Nicely done.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but William Riker will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Riker looks to score with a jab to the body but Gasgoine is just out of range.
Gasgoine is looking to counter punch.
William Riker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riker scores with a jab.
Gasgoine ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Riker moves away.
Riker misses with an uppercut.
Riker fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Gasgoine throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Riker is defended easily by Gasgoine.
Gasgoine was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riker misses with a looping left.
It looked like Gasgoine wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Riker dives in and grabs Gasgoine's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gasgoine pushes down on Riker's head and hops out.
Riker tries to clinch up

and Gasgoine counters with a nice right hand that sends Riker toppling to the canvas! Riker scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Gasgoine finish him?!

It looks like William Riker has been cut.
Riker fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gasgoine is looking to counter punch.
Gasgoine keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Riker throws a body shot but no joy.
We've been told by Gasgoine's head coaches at Worn Leather MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Riker, as that shot connected.
A slow jab from Riker misses its intended target.
Gasgoine was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Riker looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Gasgoine!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
You can see the frustration on Gasgoine's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Riker decides to stand back up.
Gasgoine scores with a jab to the body.
Riker has his takedown stuffed
and Gasgoine counters with a perfectly timed head kick, knocking Riker out cold! Wow, that took some serious skill and not a little luck! Gasgoine is taking it in his stride though, strolling around like it's no big deal. What a guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Paul Gasgoine!
In his post fight interview, Paul Gasgoine started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
