PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Heismann Haa (ranked 132 p4p, 524 weight class) and Brendon Carrillo-Moreno (ranked 7 p4p, 39 weight class). Haa kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Her kommer Heismann Hå. Brendon Carrillo-Moreno told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Heismann Haa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Brendon Carrillo-Moreno!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haa loads up on a big right hand but Carrillo-Moreno slips the punch.
Carrillo-Moreno looks to throw the jab but Haa is out of range.
Carrillo-Moreno shoots in for a takedown but Haa shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Haa throwing a counter right hand but Carrillo-Moreno manages to avoid it.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Carrillo-Moreno crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Haa - the referee stops the clock and Carrillo-Moreno gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Haa. Carrillo-Moreno manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Haa appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Haa quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Carrillo-Moreno paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Carrillo-Moreno dives in and grabs Haa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Haa pushes down on Carrillo-Moreno's head and hops out.
Carrillo-Moreno shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Haa defends it nicely.
Haa thinks about countering with a body kick.
Heismann Haa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brendon Carrillo-Moreno.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carrillo-Moreno shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Haa sprawls well. Haa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carrillo-Moreno gets slowly back to his feet.

Carrillo-Moreno lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Good work by Carrillo-Moreno as he checks the leg kick.

Carrillo-Moreno throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Haa's waist but Haa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carrillo-Moreno off to one side.
Carrillo-Moreno takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Haa lands a nice leg kick that just misses Carrillo-Moreno's sensitive parts.
Carrillo-Moreno shoots in looking for a takedown. Haa tries to sprawl out of it but Carrillo-Moreno keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Haa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Carrillo-Moreno tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Haa defends well and Carrillo-Moreno ends up having to push Haa into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Haa counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Carrillo-Moreno closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Haa gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Carrillo-Moreno seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Haa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Haa is on top in guard.

Haa has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Carrillo-Moreno throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Haa connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
