Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jolly Roger (ranked 5478 p4p, 3091 weight class) and Dimebag Abbot (ranked 589 p4p, 406 weight class). Roger's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Under Jolly Roger. Abbot has chosen Going The Distance as his entrance music. Jolly Roger could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dimebag Abbot's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 18 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jolly Roger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dimebag Abbot! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abbot moves out of range of the strikes. Abbot takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. A looping hook to the body misses from Roger. Abbot does a little dance to reset his feet. Roger misses with a hook
and Abbot connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Roger jabbing away but nothing is landing. Abbot lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Abbot takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Roger takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Roger scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Abbot drives through and clinches with Roger against the cage.

Roger is trying to trip Abbot. He has hold of a leg but Abbot is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Roger persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Abbot is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Roger postures up in Abbot's guard and throws a big left but Abbot blocks it. Roger lands a couple of decent looking shots. Roger missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Roger is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at DF Fitnesscentrum that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Roger tries to free his leg and advance position but Abbot is retaining full guard. Abbot looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Roger is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Abbot utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Roger in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. No damage this time. Roger might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Roger postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Roger distracts Abbot with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Roger is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Roger lands a couple of digs. Roger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Roger controls from within his opponent's guard. Roger with a nice head shot there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roger with a flurry of punches that miss. Roger throws a strike but Abbot rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Roger is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Roger controls Abbot momentarily but Abbot frees himself. Roger throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Roger tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Abbot is looking to work some ground and pound but Roger has wrist control. Abbot in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Abbot got a little sloppy there for a moment and Roger has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abbot has managed to get both his arms back between Roger's legs - danger averted. Roger looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roger not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Roger looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Abbot throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Roger regains full guard. Nicely done. Abbot got a little sloppy there for a moment and Roger has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abbot has managed to get both his arms back between Roger's legs - danger averted. Roger is trying to keep Abbot in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Roger is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Roger looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Roger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Abbot gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Roger looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Abbot puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Roger moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Roger manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Abbot manages to get himself to full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jolly Roger dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Abbot moves into the clinch successfully.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Roger. Roger is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Roger works on Abbot's body with a couple of short punches. Roger drops down looking for an ankle pick but Abbot pulls his leg out and moves away.
A jab from Roger misses. Jolly Roger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roger scores with a jab to the jaw. Abbot blocks a jab. Abbot just misses with a punch to the body.
Roger stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Abbot takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Abbot rushes Roger and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Abbot prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jolly Roger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Abbot is breathing heavily. Roger effectively controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abbot is trying to push Roger away but Roger has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Abbot swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Abbot breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Roger misses with a straight left. Abbot moves into the clinch successfully.

Jolly Roger is winning the standup battle so far. Roger missing with a left hand there. Abbot was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Abbot uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Roger. Abbot takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Roger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Abbot was well out of range. Poor timing from Roger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A cross from Abbot lands. Roger misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Abbot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Abbot! But no joy. Abbot has taken the fight to the clinch.
Roger is leaning against Abbot and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Abbot. Abbot pressing his opponent against the cage. Roger blocking some punches.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Abbot prevents the takedown attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A head punch blocked on the inside by Roger. Abbot throws a punch but it's blocked by Roger. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Abbot creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Abbot pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Roger jabbing away but nothing is landing. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Abbot! But no joy. Roger wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Abbot tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roger paws at him with a jab and circles away. Roger throws a one two combo.
Roger connects with a single shot there. Roger lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Roger jabs at Abbot's body. Roger misses with a jab, cross combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Abbot ducks under a wild hook from Roger. Abbot takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Roger throws a lazy right hand but Abbot sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Roger throws a good cross that connects.
Roger looks to score with a jab to the body but Abbot is just out of range. Roger throws a hook but Abbot avoids it easily. Roger takes a swing at Abbot's ribcage but misses. Abbot throws a body shot but no joy. Roger drops down looking for a counter takedown but Abbot sprawls and moves away. The fight stays on the outside here - Abbot looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Abbot ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Roger lands with an uppercut that bounces Abbot off the cage and back into range. Abbot tries to clinch up but Roger circles away and keeps his distance. Roger lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Abbot throws a jab but it's blocked by Roger. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Nice shot by Roger. Roger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jolly Roger dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round! Roger lands a nice shot that snaps Abbot's head back.
A big left from Roger misses. Abbot is looking to clinch. Good exchange - Roger coming out on top.
Abbot is rocked! Abbot clinches up with Roger and pushes him back against the cage. Abbot is still on wobbly legs! Can Roger finish him? A shot in the inside from Roger. Abbot prevents a takedown attempt there.
Roger goes for a takedown attempt but Abbot pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Is there anything that Abbot can do to turn this around? Abbot breaks from the clinch.

Dimebag Abbot seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. A short right hand to the side of the head by Abbot. Abbot lands on the inside with an uppercut. Abbot lands a right hand. Abbot escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Roger throws the left hand but Abbot avoids the punch easily. Abbot tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Roger manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Dimebag Abbot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roger tries to keep at a distance but Abbot has taken the fight into the clinch. Abbot pushes Roger back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Roger tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Abbot misses with a hook to the ribs.
Roger changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Abbot fights it off and pushes away nicely.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Dimebag Abbot. I think Roger has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
