PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Rizzo (ranked 593 p4p, 480 weight class) and Ricky Greene (ranked 52 p4p, 35 weight class). Greene has chosen Stepdad- Eminem as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ricky Greene enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frank Rizzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Greene!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rizzo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Greene did well to prevent Rizzo getting side control.
Greene felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Rizzo seems to be working for a kimura but Greene defends the submission attempt.

Greene is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rizzo pulls his head out easily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rizzo connects with a nice short shot to Greene's temple.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rizzo is nestled in close to Greene, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Greene is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rizzo lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rizzo lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Rizzo avoids the attempt from Greene to control.
Greene might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rizzo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Greene regains half guard there - taking advantage of Rizzo's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Rizzo thows a huge punch but Greene dodges it nicely.
Rizzo is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Greene moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Greene is pulling down on Rizzo's head. It's preventing any offense from Rizzo, at least for the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rizzo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Greene has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rizzo has managed to get both his arms back between Greene's legs - danger averted.

Greene goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Rizzo rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Greene's guard! Nice work there by Rizzo!

Rizzo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Greene swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rizzo is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Greene tries to free his leg and advance position but Rizzo is retaining full guard.
Frank Rizzo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Greene missing with a left hand there. Rizzo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Rizzo.

Greene takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Greene wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Rizzo dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Greene. That did some damage!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frank Rizzo.
Well Rizzo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Frank Rizzo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
