PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Salvatore Coppola (ranked 5049 p4p, 1975 weight class) and Rakeem Marley (ranked 557 p4p, 296 weight class). Coppola comes to the cage accompanied by Duality. Marley has chosen Damian Marley - Welcome to Jamrock as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Salvatore Coppola!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rakeem Marley!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coppola throws a sloppy head kick and Marley moves out of range easily.

Marley closes the distance and clinches.

Marley manages to break the clinch.
Marley leaves Coppola with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Marley misses with a head kick.
Coppola appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Rakeem Marley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marley throws a right and a left that Coppola avoids nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marley with a nice calf kick.
Marley stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Marley rushes Coppola and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Coppola's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
A bit of stalling here from Marley.
Coppola fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Marley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Coppola is looking to clinch but Marley is avoiding it.
Marley throws a combination. Coppola tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Marley fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Marley connects with a single shot there.
Marley sizes up Coppola with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Coppola tries to keep at a distance but Marley has taken the fight into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Marley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Marley gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Marley decides to pull guard.

Marley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Marley is looking for a triangle but Coppola pushes his legs off easily.

Marley has his foot on Coppola's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Coppola works his way back into a safe position though.

Coppola is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Coppola trying to control the position from guard on top but Marley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Coppola stands and steps away. Marley gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A nice inside leg kick there by Marley. That's going to slow Coppola down.

Marley darts in and clinches Coppola up against the cage.

Marley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Marley feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Coppolas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Marley throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jab by Marley.
Coppola throws a head kick but Marley moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Marley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Marley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Marley throws a right and a left that Coppola avoids nicely.
Marley plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A combination from Marley does no damage.
Marley lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Oooooh!!! Marley has knocked Coppola down with a huge combo! Marley steps away and waves a wobbly Coppola back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Coppola is rocked!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rakeem Marley dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Coppola is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Marley doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Coppola crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Coppola's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rakeem Marley!
