Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris John!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kamil Marek!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marek scores with a jab to the head.
Marek misses with a two punch combination.
John was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
John slips under a jab from Marek.
Marek displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as John throws out the jab.
Marek throws a counter combo.
John is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Marek.
John scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Marek doesn't seem bothered though.
John bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
John throws a right and a left that Marek avoids nicely.
Marek appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Chris John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
John misses with a right hand
and Marek connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Marek lands a nice shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

John throws a hook but Marek blocks it.
Marek showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from John.
Marek looks like he wants to counter punch here.
John uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Marek has time to react.

It looks like Kamil Marek has been cut.
Marek throws the left hand but John avoids the punch easily.
Marek throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
John throws a big shot that misses.

John pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Marek throws a lazy right hand but John sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
John lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A decent looking cross lands there for Marek.
Marek scores with a hook.
John lands the left hand.
Marek takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Marek throws a looping overhand right but John ducks down to avoid it.
John feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Marek on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
John thows a left - swing and a miss!
Marek swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Marek lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but John circles away quickly and effectively.
John looks to land a left hand but Marek moved out of range nicely.
John cracks a nice hook into Marek's ribs.

An inside leg kick from John misses.
Marek connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between John's hands.
Marek might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Marek missing with a left hand there. John was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
John scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Marek looks to score with a jab to the body but John is just out of range.
We've been told by John's head coaches at Champion Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Marek fakes high and swings low for a body shot but John manages to avoid it.
Marek throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
John throws a lazy right hand but Marek sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
John lands a glancing blow to the side of Marek's head.
Marek throws an off balance right hand

and John counters with a crisp one two that drops Marek! John thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Marek to his feet! Marek is in big trouble!

Marek is rocked!
Marek slips a straight right by John.
Marek is still on wobbly legs! Can John finish him?
Marek throws an overhand right that lands on John's shoulder, as John tries to avoid the shot.
A counter left hand to the body from John misses its target.
John lands a really nice looking cross but Marek seems unphased.
John missing with a left hand there. Marek was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
John walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Marek drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! John swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Marek's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris John!
Chris John retains his lightweight title!
In his post fight interview, Chris John started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
