PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Custer (ranked 330 p4p, 522 weight class) and Roland Weudke (ranked 50 p4p, 76 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jesse Custer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roland Weudke!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weudke with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Custer to score with a decent uppercut.

It looks like Roland Weudke has been cut.
Weudke sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Custer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Custer lands with a cross.
Weudke takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Custer misses with a hook.
Weudke ducks under a wild hook from Custer.
A little jabbing left from Weudke on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Custer throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Weudke stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've been told by Custer's head coaches at FF Forever that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Custer clinches up with Weudke and pushes him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Weudke scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Weudke wants to break the clinch but can't.
Custer tries to throw a body punch but Weudke avoids it by throwing Custer back against the cage.

Custer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Weudke jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Custer throwing a counter right hand but Weudke manages to avoid it.
Custer misses with a straight right.
It seemed like Weudke was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Custer scores with a shot to the body.
Weudke misses with a lunging right hand
and Custer counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Weudke lands with a nice combination. Custer backs away looking to recover.

It looks like Jesse Custer has been cut.

Custer moves into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Custer gets through Weudke's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Custer lands a right hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Weudke tries to work over Custer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Custer misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Weudke missing with knees to the body.
Weudke tries to circle away but Custer has him pinned against the cage.
Weudke blocks a body shot from Custer.
Custer lands a body shot in the clinch.
Custer throws a punch but it's blocked by Weudke.
Custer keeps control of Weudke as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Custer blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Custer lands a shoulder strike.

Custer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Weudke throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Custer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Custer scores with a jab.

That has opened up Roland Weudke's cut even more.
Weudke takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Custer tries to close the distance and clinch but Weudke swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A little jabbing left from Weudke on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Crunch! Custer slams his shin into Weudke's torso.
Weudke shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Custer lands a big right hand that sends Weudke crashing to the mat! Custer stays standing though and waves Weudke back to his feet!

Weudke is rocked!
We've been informed that Weudke has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Custer goes for a small jab and connects. Now Custer goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Weudke stumbles back but Custer runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Weudke to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Weudke will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jesse Custer!
Jesse Custer decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
