Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Santoro (ranked 1165 p4p, 2647 weight class) and Jack Ryan (ranked 144 p4p, 303 weight class). Santoro kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is MERCURY. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santoro ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Ryan throws a body shot but no joy.
Ryan lands with a good body shot.
Santoro avoids the body shot from Ryan.
Santoro quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

It looked like Santoro wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Santoro was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Santoro stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ryan misses with an uppercut
and Santoro makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Santoro lands with a straight right. Ryan didn't see that one coming.
It looks like Jack Ryan has been cut.

It appears Santoro was looking to counter with a kick there.
Ryan misses with a lunging right hand
and Santoro makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Ryan really felt that one!
Donk. Santoro catches Ryan right on the button with a cross.
Ryan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've been told by Santoro's head coaches at Gentleman's Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Santoro throws a body punch but Ryan moves out of range.
Nice uppercut there from Ryan.
Santoro closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A slow jab from Ryan misses its intended target.
Ryan sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Santoro uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ryan.
A little feinted left hand from Santoro on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santoro jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ryan misses the body punch
and Santoro counters with a hugh head kick that removes Ryan from consiousness! A brutal head kick knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Tommy Santoro!
