Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ingo Szopa (ranked 2288 p4p, 2978 weight class) and Pierre Ragout Mendy (ranked 300 p4p, 363 weight class). Pierre Ragout Mendy will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ingo Szopa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Szopa avoids a punch combination nicely.
Szopa closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mendy misses with an attempted mid kick.
Szopa connects with the punch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mendy has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Mendy takes a swing at Szopa's ribcage but misses.
Pierre Ragout Mendy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendy just misses with a punch to the body.
Szopa misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mendy.

Mendy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mendy enables Szopa to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mendy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Szopa feinted with a counter takedown.
Szopa cracks Mendy with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Mendy shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Szopa is trying to defend but Mendy finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Mendy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Szopa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Szopa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mendy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Szopa is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mendy scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendy scores with a big shot! Szopa's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Szopa! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
