PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between D.D Panda (ranked 1213 p4p, 1007 weight class) and ZaDarius Haden (ranked 170 p4p, 147 weight class). Haden is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Mot�rhead - Orgasmatron. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, D.D Panda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, ZaDarius Haden!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panda walks into a jab.
Panda missing with a left hand there. Haden was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Haden closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Panda to the mat! Panda manages to get full guard.
Panda keeping full guard, as Haden tries to pass.
Haden is looking to work some ground and pound but Panda has wrist control.
Haden not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Haden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Panda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Haden engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Haden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Haden is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Haden just misses with a punch to the body.
Haden has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Panda closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Haden tries to roll over but Panda keeps him under control.

Panda is controlling the pace.
Haden trying to hold on to Panda's head to control him but Panda postures up.
Haden is positioning himself well to prevent Panda advancing to mount.
Panda moves nicely into side control.

Haden wants to control but Panda is having none of it.
Panda looking to control but Haden is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Haden has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Panda wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Haden keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Haden wants to control but Panda is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that D.D Panda will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Haden throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Panda.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Haden.

Haden fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Panda to the ground. Haden is now in Panda's guard.
Haden wants to control from the top but Panda keeps moving.

Haden takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Haden is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Panda reverses the position - he's now on top in Haden's guard.

Haden looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Panda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Haden swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Panda might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Haden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Haden is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Haden looking to hit a scissor sweep but Panda is one step ahead there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Haden on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Panda misses with a hook to the body

and Haden decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Panda's guard.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

ZaDarius Haden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Panda looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Panda closes the distance and clinches up with Haden, looking for a takedown. Panda pushes Haden against the cage but Haden circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Panda staying out of range there.
Panda misses with a hook. Haden ducked under it nicely.
Haden lands a glancing blow to the side of Panda's head.
Haden has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Panda misses the shot to the body.

Haden is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Haden wants the takedown. Panda is fighting it off but Haden persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Panda's guard against the cage.

Panda has momentary wrist control but Haden slips an elbow through the middle.

ZaDarius Haden comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Haden has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking ZaDarius Haden rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
