Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gordon Jones (ranked 1616 p4p, 1542 weight class) and Loke Axelsen (ranked 60 p4p, 55 weight class). Axelsen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Cha Cha PT2- Freddie Dredd. Loke Axelsen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gordon Jones!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Loke Axelsen!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.

Jones shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jones lands a nice short elbow.
Jones is taking a breather. Axelsen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Axelsen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Axelsen is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Axelsen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Axelsen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Axelsen sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gordon Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Axelsen swivels and escapes.
Axelsen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Axelsen wants it to stay on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Axelsen, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Axelsen against the ropes but Axelsen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Axelsen looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Axelsen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jones fails with the takedown.
Nice jab there from Axelsen.

It looks like Gordon Jones has been cut.

Axelsen cracks Jones with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Axelsen has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Jones to stand back up!

Jones is rocked!
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Axelsen, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Axelsen against the ropes but Axelsen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A little jabbing left from Axelsen on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Jones staying out of range there.
Axelsen throws a right hand that misses

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Axelsen fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Jones with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gordon Jones will probably get the nod.

Jones moves to clinch but Axelsen breaks away
and Axelsen counters with a huge right that knocks Jones out cold! Axelsen is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Loke Axelsen!
Loke Axelsen is the new super heavyweight champion!
Loke Axelsen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
