PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mama Tosen (ranked 123 p4p, 284 weight class) and Lars Kay (ranked 8 p4p, 25 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lars Kay was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mama Tosen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lars Kay!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kay connects with a single shot there.
Kay works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kay lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kay throws a combination. Tosen tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Kay looks to land a right hand but Tosen moved out of range.
It looked like Tosen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Kay throws a nice looking combination but Tosen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Tosen was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Kay swings widly with a right hand
and Tosen counters with a good low kick that Kay was not able to check.
Tosen defending well as Kay loads up on a big left hand.
Tosen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kay misses with a double jab
enabling Tosen to counter with a crisp jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tosen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kay throws out the jab.
Kay throws a jab when Tosen was well out of range.
As Kay backs away, Tosen returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

A little feinted left hand from Tosen on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

and Tosen counters with a straight right hand.
Kay misses with a hook
and Tosen counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kay's knee momentarily.
Kay lands an overhand right.
Kay swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kay swings widly with a right hand
and Tosen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kay throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kay swings for the body but Tosen moves out of range.
It appears Tosen was looking to counter with a kick there.
Tosen takes one on the button.
Kay works the jab nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tosen manages to avoid it.
Kay throws a hook to the side of Tosen's head but Tosen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kay looks to land a left hand but Tosen moved out of range nicely.
Kay swings widly with a right hand
and Tosen counters with a body kick that stops Kay in his tracks momentarily.
Kay misses with a lunging right hand
and Tosen counters with a body kick that stops Kay in his tracks momentarily.
Kay looks winded!
Tosen slips a jab and a cross from Kay.
Tosen moves out of range of the strikes.
Kay might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
A left and a right from Kay both land. Nice combination.
A telegraphed right hand from Kay misses the target.
Kay uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Kay throws an off balance right hand
and Tosen counters with a thumping low kick.
Tosen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kay.
It looked like Tosen was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kay.
Kay throws a right and a left that both miss.
It looked like Tosen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Tosen moves away from the strike by Kay.
Tosen throwing a counter right hand but Kay manages to avoid it.
Kay missing with a left hand there. Tosen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kay misses with a body punch
and Tosen counters with a nice kick to the body.
Kay throws an off balance right hand
and Tosen counters with a solid body kick.
Kay throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kay misses with an uppercut
letting Tosen counter with a right hand.
Kay misses with a left hand

and Tosen counters with a nice right hand that sends Kay toppling to the canvas! Kay scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Tosen finish him?!

Kay is rocked!

It looks like Lars Kay has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kay jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kay throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Tosen counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kay's knee momentarily.
Tosen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Kay lands with a shot to the body.
Kay throws a shot from downtown. Tosen moves away and avoids it.
Tosen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kay connects with a looping right hand.
Kay swings for the body but Tosen moves out of range.
Kay misses with a hook. Tosen ducked under it nicely.
The fighters circling - Kay throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Tosen thinks about countering with a body kick.
Kay misses with a jab to the body
and Tosen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lars Kay will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Lars Kay's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kay lands with a straight right. Tosen didn't see that one coming.
It looks like Tosen has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Tosen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kay.
Kay throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Tosen counters with a solid body kick.
Kay throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Tosen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Kay throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kay throws an off balance right hand
and Tosen makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Kay really felt that one!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tosen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kay.

Kay throws a hook to the side of Tosen's head but Tosen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Tosen appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

A looping hook to the body misses from Kay. Tosen does a little dance to reset his feet.

Tosen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kay scores with the left hand. Tosen knows he should have avoided that one.
Kay misses with an uppercut
and Tosen counters with a huge left! Kay is in big trouble! He's backing up but Tosen isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Kay from any more damage. A dominating finish by Tosen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mama Tosen!

A very excited looking Mama Tosen made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
