Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Lingfield (ranked 1820 p4p, 3815 weight class) and Paul Herrera (ranked 245 p4p, 448 weight class). Paul Herrera has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Lingfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Herrera!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herrera looks to land a body kick but Lingfield moved away.

Lingfield feints and as Herrera raises his hands in defense, Lingfield changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lingfield is looking to pass into half guard but Herrera pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Herrera is in guard.

Lingfield seems keen to control Herrera's posture.
Herrera wants to stand but Lingfield has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Herrera controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Lingfield is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Herrera wants to control from the top but Lingfield keeps moving.

Lingfield looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Herrera trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lingfield is on top in guard.

Herrera preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Lingfield trying to control the position from guard on top but Herrera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Herrera has his foot on Lingfield's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lingfield works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Lingfield is working Herrera over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lingfield is in close to Herrera's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lingfield stays in close to Herrera's body and controls the position.
Herrera avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Lingfield is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Herrera is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lingfield defends well.

Herrera looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lingfield advances position into side control!
Herrera tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lingfield wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lingfield working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Lingfield wants to lay and pray for a moment but Herrera keeps working.
Lingfield controls the position.

Lingfield lands a decent elbow from side control.

Lingfield tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Lingfield trying to control the action but Herrera is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lingfield in side control lands a decent elbow.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Lingfield dominated that round.
That's time! Lingfield's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Herrera shoots in looking for a takedown but Lingfield manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Herrera's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Lingfield shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Herrera is trying to control but can't.
Lingfield is pressing down on Herrera's thigh, looking to free his foot. Herrera is holding on for now.
Lingfield is looking to take a break and control but Herrera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lingfield takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lingfield is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Lingfield slows the pace down in half guard.
Lingfield uses his free foot to push down on Herrera's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Herrera.

Herrera is in a horrible position here. Lingfield smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Lingfield has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lingfield looking to control and managing it successfully.
Jim Lingfield overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Herrera is looking to improve his position but Lingfield isn't that keen on the idea.

Lingfield controlling the pace for now.
Herrera is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lingfield cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Lingfield has hold of Herrera's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Herrera manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Lingfield has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Herrera's face.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Herrera is squirming around, avoiding Lingfield's attempts to control the action.
Herrera tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Herrera tries to improve his position but Lingfield has taken his back! Lingfield has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Herrera tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Lingfield pushes Herrera away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jim Lingfield!
In his post fight interview, Jim Lingfield started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
The defeated Paul Herrera had this to say: 'I love you all!'.
