Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valentino controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Byrd has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Valentino has passed into side control.

Byrd knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Valentino on the ground.

Byrd is looking to regain half guard here but Valentino keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Byrd can't do much from the bottom here.
Valentino scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Byrd to see if he's OK.
Valentino lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Valentino has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
