PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between DeVon Hampton (ranked 2086 p4p, 1219 weight class) and Dude Dudeson (ranked 282 p4p, 175 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, DeVon Hampton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dude Dudeson!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dudeson misses with a jab to the body
and Hampton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Hampton tries to sprawl but Dudeson drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Hampton gets back to full guard.
Hampton trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Hampton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hampton will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Dudeson scoring with punches to the head and body.
Dudeson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hampton throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hampton looking for a sweep. Not yet Hampton, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hampton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dudeson's guard.


Hampton postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dudeson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hampton, into his guard.

Hampton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hampton is trying to maintain the position but Dudeson is very close to passing his half guard.

Hampton landing rabbit punches to the side of Dudeson's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.
Hampton is not content to let Dudeson control the position.
Hampton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Nice strikes from Dudeson there.

Dudeson is trying to control the action in half guard but Hampton is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Well, if Dudeson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hampton is pressing down on Dudeson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dudeson postures up in Hampton's guard and throws a big left but Hampton blocks it.
Hampton thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hampton is on top in guard.

Hampton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dudeson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hampton's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hampton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hampton is fighting to break Dudeson's control of his arms but Dudeson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dudeson is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hampton throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Dudeson's body to avoid the submission. Dudeson has instead reached around Hampton's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Dudeson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Dude Dudeson!
Dude Dudeson looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'I gave this guys wife a three knuckler just the other night. So this was kinda awkward, props to him for showing up, and my apologies for ruining your weekend.'.
