Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Merel (ranked 1407 p4p, 840 weight class) and Maximus Furioto (ranked 110 p4p, 64 weight class). Furioto is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by 韻踏合組合 - . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 25 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anthony Merel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 32 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maximus Furioto! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Winston Howard and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Furioto ducks under a wild hook from Merel. Merel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
It looks like Maximus Furioto has been cut. Merel lands with a straight right. Furioto didn't see that one coming. Merel connects with the punch. Merel lands a jab to the head.

Furioto closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Merel's guard. Merel throwing short punches from the bottom. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Furioto is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? That's four minutes gone in the round. Merel lands with a few short shots to the body. Furioto looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Furioto is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Merel tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Furioto is looking for a kimura here.

Maximus Furioto dominated that round. The cut man is working on Maximus Furioto's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Furioto defending well as Merel loads up on a big left hand. Merel cracks Furioto with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Merel throws a shot from downtown. Furioto moves away and avoids it. Merel thows a left - swing and a miss! A jab from Merel misses. Furioto slips a straight right by Merel. Nice defenses there by Furioto. Merel jabbing away but nothing is landing. Merel darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Furioto staying out of range there. Jab by Merel. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Merel throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Furioto sees it coming and avoids it easily. Furioto scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Furioto blocks the strikes from Merel.

Maximus Furioto has got the better of the ground game so far. Merel wants to sweep here but Furioto controlling him for the moment. Merel lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Merel is looking to work some ground and pound but Furioto has wrist control. Merel lands a couple of decent looking shots. Furioto has his foot on Merel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Merel works his way back into a safe position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Merel stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Furioto throws up his legs and catches Merel in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Merel tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Furioto! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Maximus Furioto! Maximus Furioto really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Bondi MMA 🏝️ logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
