Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kimo Apolo (ranked 1149 p4p, 738 weight class) and Axton Burgess (ranked 146 p4p, 97 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimo Apolo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Axton Burgess! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burgess dips to his left and cracks Apolo with an uppercut! Apolo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A head punch on the inside from Burgess fails to land. Burgess throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Burgess has a couple of punches blocked by Apolo.
Burgess pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nice defenses there by Apolo. Kimo Apolo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Apolo misses the shot to the body. A countering left hand to the body from Burgess misses. Apolo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Burgess feints a counter leg kick. Apolo is looking to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Apolo pushes Burgess up against the cage in a clinch. Apolo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Apolo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Burgess postures up.
Apolo seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Burgess scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Apolo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Apolo is trying to control the position but Burgess postures up. Burgess throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Burgess is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Apolo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Burgess is aware though and is defending well. Burgess stays in close to Apolo's body and controls the position. Apolo controlling the position. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Apolo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Apolo has his foot on Burgess's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burgess works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Burgess stays in close to Apolo's body and controls the position. Apolo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Burgess is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Apolo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Apolo throws a body shot but no joy. A nice side step and Burgess releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Burgess tries to clinch but Apolo moves out of range. Apolo was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Burgess swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Apolo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Burgess cracks a nice hook into Apolo's ribs. A lazy left from Apolo finds it's target. Apolo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Burgess counters with a lovely straight right hand! Apolo misses with a straight right. Burgess let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Apolo throws a big shot that misses. Nice cross by Apolo. A jab from Apolo misses. Burgess darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Burgess pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Apolo lands a jab to the nose.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Apolo misses with a lunging right hand
and Burgess counters with a lovely straight right hand! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Apolo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A quick step to the side and Apolo tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Burgess works Apolo's body with a nice hook. No joy there for Apolo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Burgess feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Apolo sprawling to the canvas! Apolo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Burgess finish him?!
Apolo misses with a straight right. Burgess avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Apolo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Burgess. Burgess circles away out of range and recomposes himself. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Axton Burgess dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Apolo scores with a one two! Burgess had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
It looks like Axton Burgess has been cut. Burgess throws a body punch but Apolo moves out of range. Burgess throws a shot to the body.
Apolo just misses with a punch to the body.
Burgess scores with a jab. Apolo acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Apolo uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Burgess misses with an uppercut. Apolo saw that one coming. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Apolo tries to close the distance and clinch but Burgess swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Burgess throws a body punch but Apolo moves out of range. Burgess swings for the body but Apolo moves out of range.
Burgess is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Apolo rather than just go for the knockout. Apolo wants to clinch and Burgess connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Burgess counters with a nice right hand that sends Apolo toppling to the canvas! Apolo scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Burgess finish him?!
Apolo is rocked! Burgess walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Apolo misses with an uppercut. Burgess swings for the body but Apolo moves out of range.
Apolo cracks Burgess with an open hand slap. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Burgess ducks under a wild hook from Apolo. Axton Burgess seems to be getting the better of the standup. Apolo thows a left - swing and a miss! Apolo sets himself, and Burgess steps forward looking for the clinch! Apolo avoids it this time. Apolo throws a right and a left that both miss. Apolo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burgess swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burgess with a body punch. A glancing blow. Apolo misses with a right hand and Burgess counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Apolo throws a right and a left that Burgess avoids nicely. Burgess clinches up with Apolo and pushes him back against the cage. Apolo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Apolo scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Apolo looks to land a left hand but Burgess moved out of range nicely. Burgess throws a shot from downtown. Apolo moves away and avoids it. Apolo misses with a straight left. Apolo's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Apolo duly obliges.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burgess closes the distance and pushes Apolo back into the cage. Apolo drags the fight down to the ground.

Burgess controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Apolo working for a triangle but Burgess defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Apolo is controlling Burgess's posture. Burgess is stalling in the full guard. Apolo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Burgess gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Burgess advances position into side control! Apolo is trying to control Burgess's posture but Burgess avoids it. A control attempt from Apolo but he's now mounted! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Axton Burgess showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Axton Burgess's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round! Burgess scores with a shot to the body.
Burgess keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Apolo. Apolo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Burgess throws the left hand but Apolo avoids the punch easily. Burgess takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Apolo misses with an uppercut. Burgess saw that one coming. Burgess swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Apolo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Burgess swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Apolo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A telegraphed right hand from Apolo misses the target. The crowd cheers as Apolo lands an impressive looking overhand right. Burgess doesn't seem phased though. Apolo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Burgess circles away quickly and effectively. Burgess tries to counter with a clinch but Apolo shakes him off and moves away. Apolo misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Burgess to counter with a crisp jab. Burgess cracks Apolo with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Burgess has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Apolo to stand back up! Oh Apolo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Burgess is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Apolo flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Apolo is out cold! Burgess holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
