Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Gonzalez (ranked 1940 p4p, 1330 weight class) and Jack Serra (ranked 276 p4p, 196 weight class). Gonzalez comes into the arena with Alice In Chains - Bleed The Freak blaring out of the sound system. Miguel Gonzalez has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Gonzalez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Serra!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Steve Erwin and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra swings widly with a right hand
and Gonzalez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Jack Serra has been cut.
Serra scores with a hook to the body. Gonzalez takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Serra feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gonzalezs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Serra throws a poor cross that misses
and Gonzalez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gonzalez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Gonzalez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Serra throws a big shot that misses.
It appears Gonzalez was looking to counter with a kick there.

Gonzalez lands a big head kick that sends Serra tumbling to the mat! Gonzalez takes a step backwards and waves Serra back to his feet - he wants the finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Danga de danga de dang - Serra scores with a four punch combination!
Serra throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gonzalez sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A little feinted left hand from Gonzalez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Gonzalez swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Serra instigates a clinch.

Gonzalez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gonzalez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gonzalez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Serra was well out of range. Poor timing from Gonzalez.
Serra blocks a jab.
Serra looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Serra lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gonzalez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gonzalez is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Serra misses with an uppercut. Gonzalez saw that one coming.
We've been informed that Serra has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Serra thuds his right hand into Gonzalez's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Serra rushes Gonzalez and presses him up against the cage.
Serra can't find room to land a body shot as Gonzalez controls the action.
Gonzalez lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Serra misses with a hook from the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Gonzalez creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
I was talking to Gonzalez's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Gonzalez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Serra ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Serra moves out of range of the leg kick from Gonzalez.

A jab from Serra finds it's way through Gonzalez's defenses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gonzalez misses with a looping right.
Serra defending well as Gonzalez loads up on a big left hand.
Serra throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Gonzalez looks for the body kick but Serra saw that one coming.
Serra tries to counter by closing the distance.
Serra misses with a wild body shot.
Gonzalez throws a hook but Serra blocks it.
Gonzalez throws a jab but it's blocked by Serra.
Serra moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Gonzalez throws a looping overhand right but Serra ducks down to avoid it.

Serra has managed to clinch.
Gonzalez lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Gonzalez scores with a nice hook to the head.
Gonzalez works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A short right from Serra.
Serra tries a body shot but Gonzalez blocks it.

Gonzalez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Serra cracks Gonzalez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Gonzalez lands a really nice looking cross but Serra seems unphased.
Jack Serra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gonzalez misses with a lunging right hand
and Gonzalez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Serra throws out a powerful jab.
Serra takes a swing at Gonzalez's ribcage but misses.
Serra is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Gonzalez had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Gonzalez misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Serra counters with a straight right hand.
Serra missing with a left hand there. Gonzalez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Serra fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Serra throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
It looked like Gonzalez wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Gonzalez takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Serra tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gonzalez was well out of range. Poor timing from Serra.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gonzalez cracks a nice hook into Serra's ribs.
Gonzalez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Serra checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Gonzalez takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Gonzalez works the jab nicely.

That has opened up Jack Serra's cut even more.
Gonzalez misses with a straight left.
Serra tries to counter with a clinch but Gonzalez shakes him off and moves away.
Serra on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Gonzalez looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Gonzalez throws an overhand right that lands on Serra's shoulder, as Serra tries to avoid the shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Serra looks to clinch
and Gonzalez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gonzalez lunges at Serra with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Serra's hand.

Serra is rocked!
Serra throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gonzalez counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Serra thinking.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Miguel Gonzalez will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jack Serra's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Serra avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Serra moves into range and connects with a jab.
Gonzalez closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Gonzalez is rocked!
Serra shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Gonzalez takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Serra sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Gonzalez bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Serra!
