Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mohammad Contreras (ranked 25289 p4p, 3258 weight class) and Rodrigo Caceres (ranked 561 p4p, 382 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mohammad Contreras! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rodrigo Caceres! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Contreras gets caught flat footed, as Caceres shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Caceres sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Contreras's guard. Contreras looks like he's trying to stand up.
Caceres tries to pass the half guard into mount. Contreras knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Contreras trying to hold on to Caceres's head to control him but Caceres postures up.
Caceres has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Shinobi Martial Arts & Ninjutsu. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Contreras actively working from the bottom here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Contreras trying to get back to full guard but Caceres takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Caceres looking to take Contreras's back but Contreras rolls and after a scramble, Contreras ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Contreras to escape a tricky position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Contreras wanted to stand there but Caceres had control of the position. Caceres tries to land a sweep but no joy. Caceres is pulling down on Contreras's head to control his posture. Caceres is trying to keep Contreras in close.
Contreras has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Caceres is proving hard to escape from. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Caceres can do anything to dispel that myth. Caceres is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Caceres bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Contreras's guard. Contreras has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Caceres has passed into side control.
Caceres wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Contreras, who protects the arm well. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Contreras tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Caceres wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Caceres is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Contreras is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Contreras wants to control but Caceres postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Caceres thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Caceres tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Caceres has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! You can see the frustration on Contreras's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Contreras trying his best to control but Caceres has mounted him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Caceres fails to advance to Contreras's back. Caceres moves to his opponent's back but Contreras bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Caceres. Contreras landing with the ground and pound. Caceres is controlling Contreras's posture. Caceres not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Contreras stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Caceres swivels though and keeps the full guard. Caceres trying to control the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Caceres holds on and takes a little breather. Contreras pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Caceres is keeping the position for now. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Caceres trying to keep a closed guard but Contreras is proving a slippery customer.

That's six minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Caceres looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Contreras controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Contreras keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Contreras is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Caceres. Caceres shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Contreras is trying to stand up here but Caceres is controlling him well. Contreras is looking to control Caceres's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Contreras avoid being mounted? Caceres wants to pass to mount but Contreras is defending the position.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Caceres is looking for a kimura but Contreras is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Caceres to get the leverage. That's eight minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Caceres is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Contreras sees it coming and defends easily. Contreras is looking for a sweep. Caceres is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Contreras trying to control here.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Contreras leaves Caceres with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Caceres darts in looking for a takedown but Contreras gets double underhooks and turns Caceres into the ropes. Mohammad Contreras has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodrigo Caceres. Caceres looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Contreras! Contreras wants to control but Caceres postures up. Caceres advances to full mount.

Contreras regains half guard. Contreras is trying to maintain the position but Caceres is very close to passing his half guard. Caceres prevents Contreras from improving his position. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Contreras is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Caceres pulls his head out easily. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Rodrigo Caceres dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round! Contreras changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Caceres tries to avoid it but Contreras manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Caceres to the ground. Caceres escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Caceres is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Contreras's half guard. Contreras kicks Caceres off and gets back to his feet. Caceres gets a takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Contreras is trying to maintain the position but Caceres is very close to passing his half guard. Caceres is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Contreras defends it well. Caceres has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Contreras gets back to half guard. Caceres wants to pass the guard but Contreras is defending well. Caceres moves nicely into side control. Caceres passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Contreras!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Contreras tries to hold on but Caceres pushes him away. Caceres wants to take Contreras's back but he can't do it this time. Caceres moves to take his opponent's back. Contreras trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Caceres seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Contreras's chin but Contreras turns very nicely into Caceres's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Contreras.

Caceres closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Caceres prevents Contreras from improving his position. Contreras slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Caceres passes Contreras's left leg - he's now in half guard. Caceres passes to side control.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Contreras sneaks back into half guard. Contreras actively working from the bottom here. Contreras is trying to control but can't.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A momentary lapse in concentration from Contreras enables Caceres to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Contreras manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Caceres preventing the sweep. Caceres slips nicely into half guard. Caceres wants to pass the guard but Contreras is defending well. Contreras manages to get to full guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Contreras controls Caceres momentarily but Caceres frees himself. Contreras working for a triangle but Caceres defends it easily.

Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Caceres goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Contreras turns into him and now he's in Caceres's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Rodrigo Caceres comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Caceres has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
