Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matija Maestro (ranked 2441 p4p, 1951 weight class) and Charlie River (ranked 223 p4p, 193 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maestro might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Planet Caravan - Black Sabbath. River comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Waylon Jennings - I've Always Been Crazy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Matija Maestro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 37 - 27 - 1, fighting out of New York, Charlie River! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! River swats away the attempt to clinch by Maestro. Maestro scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Maestro takes a little break here. River wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Maestro's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. River wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee asks Maestro politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Maestro prefers to stall for the moment though. Maestro is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but River is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. River is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maestro taking a breather here. Maestro is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, River has escaped the position, nice work there. River being controlled for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Maestro working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maestro decides to stand back up. Charlie River is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Maestro drives through with a takedown into guard. River uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Maestro misses with a takedown attempt and River counters with a leg kick. Nice takedown defense from River. No joy for Maestro on that attempt. River stuffs the takedown attempt from Maestro. Maestro gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matija Maestro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Maestro shoots for a double leg takedown but River sprawls well. He's pushed Maestro's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. River displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maestro.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A nice leg kick from River, right into the meat of the thigh.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! River moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Matija Maestro has been cut. River misses with a straight left. Maestro with a lazy takedown attempt and River counters with a right hand to the body. River tests Maestro's chin there with a solid looking shot. River thows a left - swing and a miss! Maestro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has River pinned against the cage. River gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A nice side step and River releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Maestro with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling River to score with a decent uppercut. Maestro fails miserably with a takedown attempt. River's jab looks to have found its range, popping Maestro under the eye. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Charlie River dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matija Maestro's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
River cracks Maestro with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. River has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Maestro to stand back up!
Maestro is still looking wobbly from the end of the last round! River throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Maestro appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Oh Maestro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by River! Maestro is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Charlie River! An out of breath Charlie River thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
