Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cathal Doherty (ranked 490 p4p, 705 weight class) and Seamus O Brien (ranked 21 p4p, 34 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Doherty might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Jeremy- Pearl Jam. O Brien has chosen Pantera - The Great Southern Trendkill as his entrance music. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from O Brien.
Doherty misses with a hook
and O Brien cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Cathal Doherty has been cut.
Doherty looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
O Brien moves into range and connects with a jab.
Doherty throws a predictable looking body shot
and Doherty takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A decent looking body kick lands there for O Brien.
Doherty throws a poor cross that misses
and O Brien counters with a nice right hand that sends Doherty toppling to the canvas! Doherty scrambles and gets back to his feet - can O Brien finish him?!
Doherty is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
O Brien ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Doherty's jaw. Doherty's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! O Brien does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Seamus O Brien!
In his post fight interview, Seamus O Brien started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
