PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jackson (ranked 433 p4p, 311 weight class) and Joe Diddy (ranked 62 p4p, 44 weight class). Diddy has chosen lvl99ROIDMAGE as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jon Jackson has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Diddy!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diddy doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.
Jackson takes one on the button.
Diddy lands a head shot.
Diddy takes a swing at Jackson's ribcage but misses.
Diddy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Diddy throws a leg kick but Jackson sees it coming and moves out of range.
Jackson loads up on a big right hand but Diddy slips the punch.
Diddy throws out a powerful jab.
A decent looking cross lands there for Jackson.
Jackson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Donk. Diddy catches Jackson right on the button with a cross.
Diddy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A slow jab from Diddy misses its intended target.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Diddy avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

We've been hearing good reports from Jackson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Jackson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Diddy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jackson has Diddy in his guard.

Diddy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Jackson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Diddy tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Diddy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jackson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Diddy is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jackson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diddy looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

I really don't envy Jackson right now.

Jackson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Diddy gets his way!

Diddy lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Joe Diddy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Jackson tries to reverse the position but Diddy maintains control.

Joe Diddy is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Diddy has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Jackson's body.
Diddy keeps control of the position as Jackson tries to break free.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Let's hope that Diddy has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well Diddy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
