The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mendez will feel that in the morning.
Hernandez throws a nice inside leg kick.
Hernandez throws a front kick aimed at Mendez's knee but Mendez avoids it well.
Hernandez goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Hernandez tries a head kick but it misses.
Angel Hernandez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendez moves out of range of the leg kick from Hernandez.
Hernandez throws a half hearted mid kick.
Crunch! Hernandez slams his shin into Mendez's torso.

Mendez has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hernandez.
Hernandez fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mendez.
Hernandez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A little feinted left hand from Mendez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Mendez on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Mendez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Hernandez is countered with a crisp right hand from Mendez that sends him to the canvas! Mendez follows him to the mat into side control.
