PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 1559 p4p, 991 weight class) and Randal Clappertron (ranked 38 p4p, 76 weight class). Randal Clappertron told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randal Clappertron!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul moves out of range as Clappertron strikes.
Clappertron lands with a thumping leg kick.
Clappertron is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Paul slips under a jab.
Clappertron ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Clappertron staying out of range there.
Paul gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Clappertron counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like John Paul has been cut.
Clappertron connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Paul's hands.
Paul throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Clappertron on the side of the head.
Clappertron avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Clappertron. Paul does a little dance to reset his feet.
Paul throws a left and a right that both miss
and Clappertron counters with a nice leg kick.
Clappertron throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Paul blocks a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Paul is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Clappertron's half guard.
Clappertron tries to kick Paul off but Paul keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paul is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Clappertron is staying active underneath Paul, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Clappertron manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Clappertron rushes Paul with punches - Paul moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Paul goes down! Clappertron follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Randal Clappertron!
A relieved looking Randal Clappertron thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
