Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sambo Sam (ranked 1394 p4p, 721 weight class) and Tommy Vercetti (ranked 171 p4p, 90 weight class). Vercetti has chosen Vice City as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sambo Sam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tommy Vercetti!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vercetti pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Vercetti shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sam eats them both and turns towards Vercetti to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Sambo Sam has been cut.
Sam darts in looking for a takedown but Vercetti gets double underhooks and turns Sam into the cage.
Vercetti swings wildly with an uppercut but Sam uses good head movement to avoid it.
Vercetti throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Sams head.
Vercetti blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Vercetti lands a body punch in the clinch.

Vercetti throws a punch but it's blocked by Sam.
Vercetti misses with a hook from the clinch.
Sam doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

We've been hearing reports that Sam has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Sam sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Vercetti has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sam slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Sam has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vercetti is working away from the top position though.
Sam wants to get back to full guard.

That's time! Sam's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Vercetti misses with a hook. Sam ducked under it nicely.
Sam tries to counter with a takedown but Vercetti is quick to defend against it.
Sam slips under a jab.
Sam is looking for a counter combo.
Sam cracks Vercetti with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Vercetti displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sam.
It seemed like Vercetti was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Sam changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

and Vercetti takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Vercetti has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sam looking to score a takedown here. Vercetti is defending well but Sam drives through and ends up in Vercetti's guard.

Sambo Sam overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sam lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Sam drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vercetti manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sam has Vercetti in his guard.
Sam throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Vercetti escapes and throws Sam's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Sam is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Sam is trying to control Vercetti's posture but Vercetti avoids it.

Sam is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Sam tries to roll over but Vercetti keeps him under control.

Sam is looking for a sweep. Vercetti is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sam tries to roll over but Vercetti keeps him under control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sam is pressing down on Vercetti's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Vercetti advances to half guard.
Sam is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vercetti's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vercetti's back!
A bit of a pause in the action here. Sam controlling the positon.
Sam is looking for a choke. Vercetti gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Vercetti manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Sam has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Vercetti is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sam.
Sam is looking to regain half guard here but Vercetti keeps moving and retains side control.

Vercetti wants to get back to his feet but Sam is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Sam has gone for a leg lock! Vercetti slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sam's guard.

Sam had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vercetti defends it easily.

I would just about give that final round to Tommy Vercetti.
