Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Armad Bates (ranked 284 p4p, 1286 weight class) and Izzy Bangin (ranked 42 p4p, 172 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 19 - 15 - 3, fighting out of Montreal, Armad Bates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 35 - 12 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Izzy Bangin! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bangin lands the left hand. We've been hearing reports that Bates has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Bangin connects with a solid leg kick. Bangin goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Bates doesn't manage to clinch there - Bangin circles away.
Bangin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A good leg kick by Bangin. Bangin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bates. A punch lands to the side of Bangin 's head but he takes it in his stride. Bates stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bangin. Bates takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Bates avoids a low kick by using good footwork. A counter left hand to the body from Bates misses its target. Bangin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Bates scores with a jab. A leg kick checked by Bates. Bates forces Bangin back against the cage and clinches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bangin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Bangin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Bangin takes one to the side of the head.
Bangin thows a body kick. Bates tries to catch it but that hurt him. A jab from Bangin misses. Bangin with the inside leg kick. Bates moves in looking to clinch but Bangin pushes him off. Bangin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bangin gets caught napping as Bates dives in and scores a takedown. Bangin manages to retain guard. Bangin trying to control the position here. Bates trying to control the position from guard on top but Bangin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bangin wants to stand but Bates is controlling the position. Bates's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bates wants to pass the guard but Bangin is keeping the position. Bates in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bates looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Bates wants to clinch. Bangin misses with a low kick as Bates jumps back. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Bates is looking to clinch. Bangin attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Bangin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bates. Bangin with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Bangin lands with a hook. Bates tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Bangin chopping away at his opponent's legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bangin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bates has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bates and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Bangin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Bangin lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Bangin just misses with a punch to the body.
Bangin connects with an inside leg kick. A slow jab from Bangin misses its intended target. Bangin misses with a straight right. Bangin tried to score with a low kick but Bates checks it. Bangin pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Bates closes the distance and clinches. Bates jumps into guard, dragging Bangin to the mat.
Bangin engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Bates is looking to sweep but instead, Bangin has passed into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bangin is looking to take a break and control but Bates is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Bangin wants to pass to mount but Bates is defending the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bates trying to control from the bottom.

Izzy Bangin dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Bangin jabs Bates to the body, keeping him at a distance. Bangin connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Bates shoots in and bounces Bangin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Bates is standing up over Bangin. Bangin looks to escape but Bates dives into side control.
Bates remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bangin wants to control but Bates postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bates is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Bates creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bangin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. A lull in the action here. Bangin trying his best to control but Bates has mounted him. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bangin is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Bates jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bangin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bangin and Bates has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Bangin is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Bates scoring with punches and elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bates goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bangin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bates's guard! Nice work there by Bangin! Bates is pulling down on Bangin's head to control his posture. Bangin trying to control but Bates is working from the bottom. Bates managing to control the position. Bates looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bates has Bangin pulled in close to control his posture. Bangin wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Bates trying to control the position here.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bangin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Bates's hands. Bates shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Armad Bates will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! Bangin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Bates on the side of the head. Bangin cracks Bates with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Bates scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Bangin is trying to stand.
Bangin is not content to let Bates control the position. Bates is looking to stall here but Bangin recovers full guard. Bates trying to control but Bangin is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bates slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Bates prevents Bangin from getting back to his feet. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Bates being controlled here momentarily.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Bates is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Bangin lands a leg kick that knocks Bates off balance momentarily. Bates closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bates lands in his opponent's guard. Bangin wants to get back to his feet but Bates passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bates thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bangin's head. Bates sitting and controlling from the half guard. Bates is looking for a kimura but Bangin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bates to get the leverage. Bates thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bangin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Bates is working for a submission of some sort.
Bangin wants to control but Bates is keeping busy and won't allow it. Bangin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bates lands a nice short elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bangin trying to control from the bottom.
Bates trying to control the action but Bangin is working from the bottom. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Bates is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bates clinches. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bangin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Bangin tried to score with a low kick but Bates checks it. Bates was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Bates on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Armad Bates. I think Bates has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
