Averescu comes to the cage accompanied by Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle. Dan Averescu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos fails to land the takedown.
Averescu jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Santos ducks under a wild hook from Averescu.
Santos steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Averescu.
Santos blocks a jab.
Santos fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nice shot lands for Averescu.
Santos slips under a jab from Averescu.
Averescu loads up on a big right hand but Santos slips the punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Averescu throws a hook but Santos blocks it.
Averescu throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Santos looks for a takedown but Averescu sprawls well.
Dan Averescu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonardo Santos.

Averescu looks to throw the jab but Santos is out of range.
Santos tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Averescu swivels and escapes.
Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Averescu is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Santos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Averescu cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Averescu looks to land a left hand but Santos moved out of range nicely.

Averescu connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Santos momentarily.
Santos takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Averescu throws a lazy right hand but Santos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Averescu missing with a left hand there. Santos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Averescu looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Santos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Averescu pinned against the cage. Averescu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Averescu looks to land a right hand but Santos moved out of range.
Santos seems to have recovered his senses.
Santos throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Averescu's waist but Averescu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Santos off to one side.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Averescu thuds his right hand into Santos's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Averescu fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Santos to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Santos looks to clinch but Averescu throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Santos taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
