Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Klaas Jan Tijhoff! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruno Adams ! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tijhoff closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Adams 's guard. Adams is looking to stand back up but Tijhoff counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Adams .
We've been hearing good reports from Tijhoff's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Adams is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Tijhoff is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Adams sees it coming and defends easily. Tijhoff throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Adams works his way to full guard. Good work. Tijhoff stopping the sweep attempt from Adams . Adams is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Adams wants to sweep here but Tijhoff controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tijhoff looking to pass the guard. Tijhoff throwing strikes but missing. Tijhoff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Adams is trying to control the position but Tijhoff postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tijhoff slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Adams tries to get back to half guard but can't. Tijhoff is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Adams is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Adams can't do much from the bottom here. Adams is looking to regain half guard here but Tijhoff keeps moving and retains side control. Tijhoff is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Adams has escaped the position, nice work there. Adams is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Adams gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Adams working to try and regain half guard.
Adams has given up his back here. Will Tijhoff look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Tijhoff has got one arm under Adams 's chin. This could be trouble... Adams trying to control the other hand but Tijhoff gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Adams has tapped out! The fight is over!
