Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Tevita Maui! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Mawunyo Kato! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maui waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kato. Maui clinches up against the cage. Kato manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Maui wants to stand but Kato has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Kato working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maui doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maui manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kato has a closed guard, preventing Maui from standing up. Kato working for a triangle but Maui defends it easily.
Maui has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kato is proving hard to escape from. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maui stands and steps away. Kato gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Maui lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Kato - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Maui!
