Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Mir (ranked 2549 p4p, 1870 weight class) and Whealer Van Hire (ranked 251 p4p, 193 weight class). Van Hire has chosen Till I Collapse as his entrance music. Whealer Van Hire has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Frankie Mir's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frankie Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Whealer Van Hire!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Van Hire manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mir will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Van Hire fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Mir takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Van Hire scores with a leg kick.
Mir feints and as Van Hire raises his hands in defense, Mir changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Hire can do anything to dispel that myth.
Van Hire avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Van Hire wants to stand and escape but Mir is having none of it.
Van Hire keeping full guard, as Mir tries to pass.
Van Hire is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mir is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Van Hire really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mir connects with a nice short shot to Van Hire's temple.

Mir is keen to just control but Van Hire is a slippery customer.
Mir thows a huge punch but Van Hire dodges it nicely.

Mir takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mir lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Van Hire gets full guard.
Mir postures up.
Mir has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Van Hire preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mir is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Van Hire keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully.
Mir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van Hire swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mir controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Van Hire keeping full guard, as Mir tries to pass.
Van Hire has control of Mir's left arm, preventing Mir from doing any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Van Hire fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mir.
Mir rushes Van Hire and presses him up against the cage.
Van Hire's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mir tries to clinch up.
Van Hire misses with an uppercut. Mir saw that one coming.
Mir tried to counter with a leg kick but Van Hire avoided it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mir.
Van Hire was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Mir tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Van Hire appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Van Hire connects with a solid leg kick.
Van Hire lands a leg kick that knocks Mir off balance momentarily.
Mir chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Van Hire can pounce on him.
Van Hire lands a nice leg kick that just misses Mir's sensitive parts.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Van Hire, as that shot connected.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Mir.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Van Hire manages to get back to half guard.
Mir is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Van Hire!
Van Hire sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Mir stalling away here and it's allowed Van Hire to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Whealer Van Hire will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Van Hire stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Mir tries to clinch up.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Van Hire! But no joy.
Mir tries to clinch but Van Hire moves out of range.
Whealer Van Hire seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Van Hire displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mir.
Mir is looking to clinch.
Mir chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Van Hire can pounce on him.
Van Hire lands a nice shot that snaps Mir's head back.
Frankie Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mir looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mir drives through and clinches with Van Hire against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Van Hire lands a hook that snaps the head of Mir backwards.
Van Hire breaks from the clinch.
Van Hire gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mir.
Van Hire buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mir blocks a head kick by Van Hire.
Mir with a poor takedown
and Van Hire counters with an outside leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankie Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Van Hire lands a glancing blow to the side of Mir's head.
Van Hire stuffs the takedown attempt from Mir. Mir gets slowly back to his feet.
Mir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Van Hire paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Van Hire fails to land with a series of punches.
Van Hire connects with a leg kick.
Mir gets a double leg takedown into Van Hire's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mir connects with a couple of short punches.
Mir loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mir in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Van Hire pulls Mir in close to prevent any damage.
Van Hire manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mir manages to get himself to full guard.
Van Hire trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mir seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Mir throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Mir is looking to cinch up a triangle. Van Hire throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Mir's body to avoid the submission. Mir has instead reached around Van Hire's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Mir arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
