Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurki Potku (ranked 351 p4p, 573 weight class) and Vadius Highwind (ranked 54 p4p, 92 weight class). Vadius Highwind has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kurki Potku's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurki Potku! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vadius Highwind! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice body punch from Potku. Kurki Potku seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Potku keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Highwind uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Potku.
Potku changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Highwind tries to avoid it but Potku manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Highwind to the ground. Highwind escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Highwind looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Highwind throws a body punch but Potku moves out of range. A left lands for Potku. Highwind slips a straight right by Potku. Potku throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Potku fails with the takedown enabling Highwind to counter with a crisp jab. Potku lands a right hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Potku darts in trying to clinch and Highwind counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Highwind thumps Potku with a low kick. Potku lands a nice shot that snaps Highwind's head back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potku thows a left - swing and a miss! Potku misses with a right hand and Highwind counters with a nice body shot. Potku throws a low kick, looking for Highwind's leg but Highwind calmly moves out of range. Nice straight punches there by Highwind. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Highwind. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Potku. Highwind is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Potku with a body shot. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurki Potku. That's going to take a lot out of him. Potku checks a leg kick. Potku swings away with a leg kick that misses. Highwind keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Highwind gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Potku to score an easy takedown into full guard. Highwind keeping full guard, as Potku tries to pass. Highwind really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Potku. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Potku engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Highwind keeping moving, preventing Potku from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Highwind keeping full guard, as Potku tries to pass. Potku is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Potku stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Highwind swivels though and keeps the full guard. Potku won't allow Highwind to get back to his feet.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Highwind swings widly with a right hand
and Potku counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Potku is working for a kimura but Highwind is defending it quite comfortably.
Potku passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Potku is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Highwind to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Highwind shrugs it off. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Highwind stops Potku from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Potku is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Highwind can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Potku working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Highwind wants to control but Potku is having none of it. Potku goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Highwind is on top in guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kurki Potku dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Highwind throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Potku was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Highwind checks a leg kick. Potku comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Potku uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Highwind.
Highwind ducks under a wild hook from Potku. Potku moves out of range of the strikes. Highwind throws a right and a left that Potku avoids nicely. Potku throws an overhand right that lands on Highwind's shoulder, as Highwind tries to avoid the shot. Highwind throws a chopping leg kick but Potku manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Highwind tries to score with a low kick but Potku moves his leg out of the way. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Potku drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Potku thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Potku working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potku passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Highwind! Potku can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Highwind is looking to escape. Potku is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Highwind can do to turn this around? Highwind tries to lock up and control but Potku gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Potku jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Highwind is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Highwind and Potku has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Highwind is not going to allow Potku to sit and survive in this position. Potku is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kurki Potku will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round! Highwind finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Potku connects with an inside leg kick. Potku tries to score a power double leg takedown but Highwind sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Potku somewhat. Potku misses with a straight right. Highwind looks to score with a jab to the body but Potku is just out of range. A jab from Highwind finds it's way through Potku's defenses. Potku shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Potku uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Highwind.

Potku closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Highwind is trying to control Potku's posture but Potku avoids it. Potku tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Potku is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Highwind is just riding it out for now. Potku eventually gives up the hold. Potku looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Potku is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Potku has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Potku goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Highwind rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Potku's guard! Nice work there by Highwind! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Highwind accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kurki Potku. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Potku, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Kurki Potku! Kurki Potku opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
