PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anton Krylov (ranked 193 p4p, 919 weight class) and Jack Ryan (ranked 23 p4p, 106 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anton Krylov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Ryan. Krylov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ryan thows a left - swing and a miss!
Ryan ducks under a wild hook from Krylov.
Ryan throws a body shot but no joy.
Krylov dives in for a single leg takedown but Ryan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Krylov misses with some punches.
Ryan throws a head punch that misses.
Ryan lands an uppercut.
Krylov drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ryan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Krylov throws a shot from downtown. Ryan moves away and avoids it.
Ryan looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Krylov walks into a stiff left hand from Ryan.
Ryan lands a nice shot that snaps Krylov's head back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Krylov is looking to advance position but Ryan won't allow it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ryan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Krylov is thwarting Ryan's attempts to control the position.
Ryan is not content to let Krylov control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Still in half guard, Krylov seems content to control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Krylov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ryan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Krylov.

Ryan wants to hold on but Krylov pushes him away.
Krylov looking to control and managing it successfully.

Krylov is taking a breather. Ryan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Krylov seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Krylov is trying to work for a kimura but Ryan is defending well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Krylov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ryan is just riding it out for now. Krylov eventually gives up the hold.

Krylov is working for a submission of some sort.

Ryan is not content to let Krylov control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan throws a hook to the side of Krylov's head but Krylov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Krylov takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Ryan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jack Ryan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryan blocks a jab.
Krylov throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Ryan counter with a right hand.
Ryan lands a nice shot to the body.
Ryan thuds a left hand into Krylov's body.

Jack Ryan seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Ryan just misses with a punch to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Ryan 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Ryan lands a nice shot that snaps Krylov's head back.
Ryan tests Krylov's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A shot to the liver by Ryan. Beautiful body shot.
Ryan misses with an uppercut
and Krylov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A slow jab from Ryan misses its intended target.
Krylov throws a lazy right hand but Ryan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ryan wants to counter the offense by Krylov and move into the clinch position.
Ryan fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Krylov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ryan sprawls well initially but Krylov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ryan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Krylov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ryan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Krylov.

Krylov seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Ryan has recovered full guard.
Krylov passes into half guard.
Krylov is looking to take a break and control but Ryan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ryan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Krylov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Krylov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Krylov shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Ryan throws out a loose jab but Krylov uses good head movement to avoid it.
Krylov throws a hook to the side of Ryan's head but Ryan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
The fighters circling - Ryan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Krylov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krylov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ryan.
Krylov half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Krylov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ryan to the mat! Ryan manages to get full guard.
Ryan keeping moving, preventing Krylov from controlling successfully.

Krylov drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ryan dives on top into guard.

Krylov has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ryan should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Krylov has tightened it up now! Ryan should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
