Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clint Rivers (ranked 499 p4p, 1171 weight class) and Nova Lankinen (ranked 64 p4p, 159 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clint Rivers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nova Lankinen!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lankinen lands a head shot.
Rivers throws out a loose jab but Lankinen uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rivers throws a predictable looking body shot
and Lankinen counters with a nice uppercut.
Lankinen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rivers.
Lankinen takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

It looks like Nova Lankinen has been cut.
Lankinen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rivers.
An inside leg kick from Rivers misses.
It seemed like Lankinen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Rivers looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Rivers swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lankinen.
Lankinen's coach down at MMA Training and Sparring Buddies was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Lankinen's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Lankinen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rivers scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Rivers ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rivers displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lankinen throws out the jab.

Rivers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rivers wants to sweep but no luck.

Lankinen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rivers has Lankinen pulled in close to control his posture.

Lankinen postures up in Rivers's guard and throws a big left but Rivers blocks it.
Lankinen tries to free his leg and advance position but Rivers is retaining full guard.
Rivers is pulling down on Lankinen's head. It's preventing any offense from Lankinen, at least for the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rivers is on top in guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lankinen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rivers.
Lankinen loads up on a big right hand but Rivers slips the punch.
Rivers displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lankinen throws out the jab.

Rivers was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
A nice inside leg kick there by Lankinen. That's going to slow Rivers down.

Lankinen throws an off balance right hand
and Rivers counters with a series of strikes. Lankinen will be more careful next time no doubt.
Clint Rivers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lankinen throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rivers tests Lankinen's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Rivers misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

enabling Lankinen to counter with a crisp jab.
Rivers scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Lankinen is rocked!
Lankinen just misses with a punch to the body.
Rivers was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Lankinen throws a lazy right hand but Rivers sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lankinen chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Nova Lankinen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rivers feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Lankinen sprawling to the canvas! Lankinen rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Rivers finish him?!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lankinen bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Rivers comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Lankinen falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Lankinen was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Clint Rivers!
Clint Rivers very nearly forgot to thank Conviction amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
