PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Lee (ranked 5662 p4p, 25321 weight class) and Karol Bedorf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karol Bedorf will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Karol Bedorf!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bedorf shoots in but Lee avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bedorf looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Bedorf drives through with a takedown into guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bedorf working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Lee trying to strike off his back.
Bedorf postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bedorf prevents Lee from getting back to his feet.

Lee knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bedorf on the ground.
Lee striking off his back but it's not causing Bedorf any problems.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee trying to keep a closed guard but Bedorf is proving a slippery customer.
Lee might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lee isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bedorf stacks Lee on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bedorf!
Lee tries to improve position but can't.
Lee gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Bedorf controlling the pace for now.
Bedorf looking to control but Lee is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Lee is in all sorts of trouble here.

Lee is working hard here to advance position.
Lee tries to hold on but Bedorf pushes him away.
Lee is trying to stand.
Bedorf working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Lee wants to control but Bedorf is having none of it.

Bedorf wants to finish this one by submission but Lee is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Bedorf.

Lee is looking to improve his position but Bedorf isn't that keen on the idea.
The referee warns Lee that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Bedorf is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lee shrugs it off.
Bedorf avoids the attempt from Lee to control.
Bedorf sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Bedorf has eaten all the pies!
Bedorf punching from mount but Lee doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lee wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Lee trying to control the hands but Bedorf breaks the grip.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bedorf manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lee on his heels. He'll look to pass Lee's guard now, I'm sure.
Bedorf stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lee is trying to control the position but Bedorf postures up.
Bedorf working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Bedorf trying to control the position from guard on top but Lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lee punching from the bottom - just letting Bedorf know he's still in a fight.
Bedorf is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Lee throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bedorf moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lee misses with a double jab
and Bedorf counters with a nice body kick.

Bedorf drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bedorf gets to his feet - Lee follows without any prompting.
Lee looks to land a combination but Bedorf avoids it well.
A countering left hand to the body from Bedorf misses.

Bedorf gets a double leg takedown into Lee's guard.
Bedorf is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bedorf advances position into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lee looking for a sweep but Bedorf has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Lee is looking to get to half guard.
Bedorf looking to finish Lee with some ground and pound. This is bad for Lee!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bedorf has control of Lee's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lee regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Lee tries to control Bedorf's body but Bedorf pushes him off. Lee squirms to his side and now Bedorf has his back!

Bedorf is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Bedorf is hanging on to Lee's back as he tries to escape.
What can Lee do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Lee tries to escape but Bedorf has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bedorf gets his hands free as Lee looks to control.

Bedorf is cranking Lee's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Lee! He's tightened the choke and Lee is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Karol Bedorf!
