Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guy River (ranked 1776 p4p, 2423 weight class) and Marski Martola (ranked 182 p4p, 242 weight class). River comes to the cage accompanied by Gabon National Anthem. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Guy River!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marski Martola!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martola shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says River as he avoids it easily.
River scores with a hook.

River misses with a straight left.
Martola throws a head kick but River moves out of range.
River throwing a counter right hand but Martola manages to avoid it.
River displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Martola.
The fighters circling - River throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! River crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Martola - the referee stops the clock and River gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Martola. River manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

River rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Martola moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
River with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Martola to score with a decent uppercut.

Martola feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
River on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if River tries to get out of the position.

Martola isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. River stacks Martola on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by River!

River wants to get up but he can't break Martola's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
