Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil DeBlunt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 28 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Raffington! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Raffington throws out a loose jab but DeBlunt uses good head movement to avoid it. Shane Raffington seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Raffington scoring well with a low kick there.
Raffington throws the kick towards the body but DeBlunt avoids it. DeBlunt misses with a hook
and Raffington counters with a lovely straight right hand! DeBlunt misses with a hook to the body
and Raffington counters with a flying knee. Nice. DeBlunt throws a head kick that Raffington semi-blocks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. DeBlunt drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Raffington throws an overhand right that lands on DeBlunt's shoulder, as DeBlunt tries to avoid the shot. Raffington punishes DeBlunt's body with a nice straight punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raffington takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. DeBlunt lands a big right hand that sends Raffington crashing to the mat! DeBlunt stays standing though and waves Raffington back to his feet! DeBlunt is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Raffington flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Raffington is out cold! DeBlunt holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Phil DeBlunt! A very excited looking Phil DeBlunt made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
