Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Asa Steele (ranked 2564 p4p, 3372 weight class) and George West (ranked 298 p4p, 376 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Asa Steele! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George West! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! West comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. West misses with a low kick as Steele jumps back. West lands a jab. Steele has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. West connects with a single shot there. George West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Steele tries to clinch but West moves out of range. Steele tries to clinch up. West connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Steele tries to clinch up. West slips a jab and a cross from Steele.
West misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Steele takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. This has been an exciting period of action! West throws a hook to the side of Steele's head but Steele sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Steele keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Steele tries to clinch up. Steele tries to close the distance and clinch but West swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. West's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and West duly obliges. Steele walks into a jab. West lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Steele definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. West connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Steele momentarily.
West's jab looks to have found its range, popping Steele under the eye. Steele takes one on the button. Steele tries to clinch up. Asa Steele is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. West tries to keep at a distance but Steele has taken the fight into the clinch. West's coach down at Doom\'s Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on West's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. West breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
West throws an off balance right hand
and Steele counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. West scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Steele displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as West throws out the jab. A swing and a miss from Steele. West shoots in but Steele avoids the takedown attempt easily. A little feinted left hand from Steele on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Steele, as that shot connected.
West is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. West throws the left hand but Steele avoids the punch easily. West is still on wobbly legs! Can Steele finish him? A jab lands there for West. West throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steele sees it coming and avoids it easily. West leaves his chin hanging out and Steele seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! West crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Asa Steele!
