Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Steel (ranked 2730 p4p, 3525 weight class) and Shane Raffington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raffington is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Logan Lucky. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Raffington!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Steel moves away from the strike by Raffington.
Raffington tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Raffington takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Raffington walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Raffington tries a head kick but it misses.
Raffington swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Steel counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Steel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Raffington doesn't seem bothered though.
Raffington looks winded!
Raffington misses with a left hand
and Raffington takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Steel takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Raffington rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Steel counters with a right hand that sends Raffington tumbling to the canvas! Can Steel finish him? He dives into Raffington's guard looking to do just that!

Raffington is rocked!
Steel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Raffington is still in real trouble! Can Steel finish him?
Steel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Raffington is keeping the position for now.
Raffington seems to have recovered his senses.
Steel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Raffington keeping full guard, as Steel tries to pass.
Steel controls from within his opponent's guard.
Steel continues to stall.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Steel has gone for a leg lock! Raffington slips out almost immediately though and dives into Steel's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Steel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Raffington's guard.

Steel prevents Raffington from getting back to his feet.
Steel tries to free his leg and advance position but Raffington is retaining full guard.
Steel pushing down on Raffington's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Steel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Steel is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steel is pressing down on Raffington's thigh, looking to free his foot. Raffington is holding on for now.
Raffington really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Steel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Steel trying to control from half guard but Raffington is working away.

Steel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Raffington is just riding it out for now. Steel eventually gives up the hold.

Steel wants to work for an arm triangle but Raffington is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Steel is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steel is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Steel slows the pace down in half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Steel dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Raffington pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Raffington takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Steel digs a good body shot into Raffington's ribs.
Raffington misses with a hook.
Raffington swings widly with a right hand
and Raffington takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Steel is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Steel takes a swing at Raffington's ribcage but misses.
Steel swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Raffington.
Steel scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Steel bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Raffington! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Steel controlling from the top position.
Steel looking to pass the guard.
Steel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steel trying to control but Raffington is working from the bottom.
Steel engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Steel drops back, looking for a kneebar! Raffington looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Raffington looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Raffington!

Steel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Raffington can do to turn this around?
Steel avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Raffington.
Raffington thows a huge punch but Steel dodges it nicely.
Raffington throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Raffington throws a strike but Steel avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Raffington stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Raffington stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Steel throws up his legs and catches Raffington in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Raffington tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Steel! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Daniel Steel!
Daniel Steel decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
