Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurki Potku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kareem Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potku closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Johnson throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Potku counters with a left to the body.
Johnson scores with a nice head shot.
Johnson just misses with a punch to the body.
Potku was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Johnson throws a combination that misses

and Potku decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard.
Potku slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Potku wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

Potku slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Johnson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Potku tries to work over Johnson's front leg with a kick but Johnson checks it.
Johnson throws out a counter right but Potku avoids it with no problem.
Johnson misses with a straight left.
Johnson throws an off balance right hand
and Potku counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A lazy left from Potku finds it's target.

It looks like Kareem Johnson has been cut.
Johnson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Potku throws a nice head kick!
A nice leg kick from Potku, right into the meat of the thigh.
Johnson misses with a hook
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Potku misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Johnson is trying to counter with his kicks.
Potku misses the jab.

Potku looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Potku jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Johnson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Johnson has a couple of punches blocked by Potku.
Johnson tries to work over Potku's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Johnson digs a right hand into Potku's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Potku's gas tank.
Potku lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Potku has Johnson pressed against the cage, preventing Johnson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
I was talking to Potku's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Johnson breaks the clinch.
Johnson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Potku on the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Johnson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kurki Potku will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Kareem Johnson's cut.
That's time! Potku's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A bone on bone clash there as Johnson blocks the leg kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Johnson! But no joy.
Potku works Johnson's body with a nice hook.
Johnson misses with a body kick.
Potku jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Potku throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Johnson's head.
Potku swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson misses with an uppercut.
Potku is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Potku connects with a high kick.

Potku lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Potku is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Johnson can do to turn this around?

That has opened up Kareem Johnson's cut even more.
Potku shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Potku keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Potku lands a nice leg kick that just misses Johnson's sensitive parts.

Potku wants to land a leg kick but Johnson is out of range.
Kurki Potku is winning the standup battle so far.
Potku misses with a body kick.
Potku lands a nice looking body shot.
Johnson throws an off balance right hand
and Potku counters with a straight right hand.
Potku lands a jab to the head.

Potku's corner calls for a 1-2. Potku obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Potku throws a low kick but Johnson avoids it.
Johnson only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Potku lands a slapping body shot.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Potku appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Potku lands a big head kick that sends Johnson tumbling to the mat! Potku takes a step backwards and waves Johnson back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Johnson is rocked!
Potku is stalking Johnson. Johnson circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Potku, and it's lights out! Johnson really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kurki Potku!
Kurki Potku got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
