Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mae Joon (ranked 926 p4p, 1536 weight class) and Michel Santos (ranked 99 p4p, 159 weight class). Santos has chosen DMX - Intro as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mae Joon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michel Santos!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Santos.
Santos tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Santos clobbers Joon with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Joon just misses with a punch to the body.
Santos wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Joon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Santos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Joon circles away quickly and effectively.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Santos tries to bum rush Joon with a series of wild strikes but Joon uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Santos shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Joon is trying to defend but Santos finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos is hanging on to Joon's back as he tries to escape.
Santos lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Joon is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Santos.

Joon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Santos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Joon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Santos manages to avoid it.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Santos, as that shot connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Well Santos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
