Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Deanthony Pederson (ranked 138 p4p, 491 weight class) and Danny Stewart (ranked 19 p4p, 67 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 14 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Deanthony Pederson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Stewart! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big left from Stewart misses. Stewart tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pederson was well out of range. Poor timing from Stewart. Stewart has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Pederson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stewart. Pederson ducks under a wild hook from Stewart. Pederson throws a big shot that misses. Pederson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stewart.
A shot to the body from Pederson misses and Stewart counters with a series of strikes. Pederson will be more careful next time no doubt. Stewart just misses with a punch to the body.

We've been hearing reports that Pederson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Stewart takes a swing at Pederson's ribcage but misses. Pederson staying out of range there. Stewart scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pederson doesn't seem bothered though. Deanthony Pederson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pederson feinted with a counter takedown. Danny Stewart is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Stewart throws a jab when Pederson was well out of range. Pederson blocks a jab. Stewart gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pederson to score an easy takedown into full guard. Stewart wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Stewart trying to keep a closed guard but Pederson is proving a slippery customer.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Stewart holds on and takes a little breather. Pederson cracks Stewart with a solid left hand. It looks like Danny Stewart has been cut.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pederson wants to control but Stewart is keeping him busy. Pederson working the body and head with strikes. That's five minutes gone in the round. Pederson tries for a kimura but Stewart is defending well. Stewart takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Pederson looks up at the clock and then as Stewart takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pederson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The cut above Danny Stewart's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Danny Stewart's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Deanthony Pederson! Deanthony Pederson retains his middleweight title! Deanthony Pederson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. Danny Stewart spoke after the fight, saying 'Well shit...'.
