Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Smith (ranked 838 p4p, 2277 weight class) and Pallas Anttonen (ranked 114 p4p, 261 weight class). Smith's entrance music is Rush - Subdivisions. A fine choice. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith digs a good body shot into Anttonen's ribs.
Anttonen doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Smith throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Smith pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Anttonen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Smith.
Smith takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith thows a huge punch but Anttonen dodges it nicely.
Smith with the ground and pound but Anttonen uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anttonen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Smith has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Smith is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anttonen defends well.
Smith looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Anttonen passes into side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Anttonen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Anttonen is keen to just control but Smith is a slippery customer.
Smith tries to roll over but Anttonen keeps him under control.
