Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pyay Thuta (ranked 122 p4p, 263 weight class) and David Hanson (ranked 22 p4p, 32 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Hanson's choice of entrance music: Subcouds - on red. Pyay Thuta has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 19 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pyay Thuta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 16 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, David Hanson! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Thuta looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Thuta catches Hanson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! We've been told by Thuta's head coaches at Hare of the Dog Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Hanson tries for a takedown but Thuta sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Hanson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thuta misses with a wild body shot. Thuta is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Pyay Thuta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Hanson. Thuta scores with a shot to the body.
Thuta works Hanson's body with a nice hook. Thuta misses with a body shot.
Hanson steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Thuta. Nice takedown defense from Thuta. No joy for Hanson on that attempt. Thuta throws out a powerful jab. Pyay Thuta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thuta looks to score with a jab to the body but Hanson is just out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thuta clinches up with Hanson and pushes him back against the cage. Thuta throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hansons head. Hanson can't get the takedown.
Hanson blocks an uppercut.
Thuta tries to throw a body punch but Hanson avoids it by throwing Thuta back against the cage. Thuta lands with a short head shot on the inside. Thuta is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hanson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Thuta to the mat. Thuta regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hanson throws a big right hand that misses. Thuta wants to stand up but Hanson is controlling him. Thuta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hanson is one step ahead there. Thuta wants to stand and escape but Hanson is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hanson postures up in Thuta's guard and throws a big left but Thuta blocks it. Hanson lands a couple of elbows. Hanson throwing strikes from guard but Thuta blocks nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thuta wants to get back to his feet but Hanson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Thuta kicks Hanson off and gets to his feet. Donk. Thuta catches Hanson right on the button with a cross. Hanson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thuta.
A head kick by Thuta misses and Hanson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thuta won't be happy with that. Thuta is pushing Hanson's head away, looking to escape. Hanson manages to hold on to the position though. Thuta is trying to improve his position. Hanson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hanson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hanson is trying to get an arm triangle but Thuta is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hanson throws an elbow but Thuta slips to the side and avoids it well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! An elbow from Hanson crashes against the mat.
Hanson prevents Thuta from escaping the position. Hanson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Thuta is looking for a sweep. Thuta pushes Hanson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hanson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Hanson in side control lands a decent elbow. Hanson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Thuta is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Hanson yanks on the arm and Thuta is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Hanson.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). David Hanson! David Hanson really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Furnace Performance 🔥 logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
