Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Graham Mantle (ranked 969 p4p, 1668 weight class) and Frankie Mir (ranked 93 p4p, 147 weight class). Graham Mantle has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 32 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Graham Mantle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frankie Mir! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mantle defending well as Mir loads up on a big left hand. Mir takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Mantle scores with a body shot.
Mantle scores with a sloppy right hand. Mir should have avoided that one. Mir gets a clinch. Mantle doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
We've been hearing reports that Mantle has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Mantle working some nice short punches in the clinch. Mir is trying to push Mantle away but Mantle has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Mantle escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mir is looking to clinch. Mir on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Mantle throws a hook but Mir avoids it easily. Mir flicks out a counter leg kick but Mantle steps away. Mir darts in trying to clinch and Mantle counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Mir has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Nice body punch from Mantle. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mantle connects with a looping right hand.

Mantle defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mir. Mir keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jab by Mantle. Mir wants to clinch. Mir tries to clinch but Mantle moves out of range. Mantle waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mir. Mir wants to clinch. Mantle throwing a counter right hand but Mir manages to avoid it. Mantle listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Mir tries to clinch up but Mantle circles away and keeps his distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mantle swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir. Mantle pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Mir is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Mantle jabs Mir right on the nose. Mir blinks but takes it well. Mir dips to his left and cracks Mantle with an uppercut! Mantle scores with a hook to the body. Mir takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. This has been an exciting period of action! Mantle just misses with a punch to the body.
Graham Mantle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mir fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mir throws a hook but Mantle blocks it. The fighters circling - Mir throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Mantle swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Mantle lands with a hook. Mir tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Mir throws a lazy body kick and Mantle counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mir has closed the distance and engaged Mantle in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mantle swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir. A little feinted left hand from Mantle on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Mantle keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A jab from Mantle finds it's way through Mir's defenses. Mantle throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mir sees it coming and avoids it easily. Mir dives in and grabs Mantle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mantle pushes down on Mir's head and hops out. Graham Mantle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frankie Mir. Mir steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mantle. Mir's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mantle connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mir scrambles back to his feet. Mantle cracks Mir with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Mir throws a right hand that Mantle ducks under and follows up with a left that Mantle also avoids with ease. Mir takes a body punch but keeps moving. Mir tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mantle swivels and escapes. Mir throws a wild body kick that Mantle sees coming a mile off. Mantle was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mir fails in his attempt to clinch. Mir is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mantle bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mir is defended easily by Mantle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mir wants to clinch. A shot to the body from Mantle misses and Mir counters with a three punch combo that has Mantle backing up. Mantle nods at Mir to acknowledge the strikes. Mantle scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Mantle scores with a punch to the head. Mantle scores with a jab. Graham Mantle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mir darts in and clinches Mantle up against the cage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Graham Mantle dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Mantle throws the left hand but Mir avoids the punch easily. Mir tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mantle misses with a looping right. Mantle stuffs the takedown. Graham Mantle is winning the standup battle so far. Mantle jabs Mir to the body, keeping him at a distance. Frankie Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mantle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mir was well out of range. Poor timing from Mantle. Mir changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Mir moves away from the strike by Mantle. Mir moves into the clinch successfully.
Mantle throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mirs head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mantle breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mantle connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mir momentarily.
Mantle misses with an uppercut. Mantle sets himself, and Mir steps forward looking for the clinch! Mantle avoids it this time. Mantle swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir. Mir takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Mir wants to clinch. Mir gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Mir displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mantle throws out the jab. Mir shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Mir fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir moves into the clinch. Mir wants the takedown. Mantle is fighting it off but Mir persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Mantle's guard against the cage. Mir with a flurry of punches that miss. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mantle being controlled here, momentarily. Mir throws an elbow that misses. Mantle uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mir's guard. Nice move by Mantle! Mantle sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mir throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Mir has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mir is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mantle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mir is trying to keep Mantle in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mir tries to bench press Mantle off him but Mantle keeps the position. Mir is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Mantle taking a breather here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mir tries to improve position but can't. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Graham Mantle dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Mir takes one to the chin there. Mir looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mantle is fending him off so far but Mir persists. Nope, Mantle circles away and we're back to standing. Mir tries to clinch but Mantle is having none of it. Mir tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mantle throws a shot to the body.
Mir darts in looking for a takedown but Mantle gets double underhooks and turns Mir into the cage. Mantle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mir was well out of range. Graham Mantle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frankie Mir. Mantle scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mir shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mantle as he jumps to the side. Mantle lands a glancing blow to the side of Mir's head.

Mantle thuds a left hand into Mir's body. Mantle scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Mir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mantle paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mir with a poor takedown and Mantle counters with a right hand to the body. Mir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mantle keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Mir tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mantle swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mantle swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Mir let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Mantle cracks Mir with a good jab. Mir walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Mantle scores with a jab. Mantle digs a good hook to Mir's body.

and Mir decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mantle's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Mantle controlling Mir's posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mir wants to control from the top but Mantle keeps moving. Mantle controlling Mir's posture. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mir accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mantle has control of Mir's left arm, preventing Mir from doing any damage. Mir working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Mir postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mantle is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mir, into his guard. Mantle advances position into side control! Mir is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Mantle is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Mir working to try and regain half guard.
Frankie Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mir throwing hammer fists to the chest of Mantle. What's that going to do exactly? Mir tries to reverse the position but Mantle maintains control. Mantle looking to control and managing it successfully. Mantle blocks Mir's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Mir throwing hammer fists to the chest of Mantle. What's that going to do exactly? Mantle sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Graham Mantle showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mantle, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
